Ugh, finally some development in Suyeong-gu. I hope they don't go with such an anonymous design, but I'm glad to see that Busan is going to start having a really consistent, great skyline.

Some progress on the project:

The committee for the reconstruction has been formally allowed by the Suyeong District, which will allow the project to move forward (it was apparently allowed 3 months ago, but news are only coming out now).

The contractor for the project should be selected before the end of the year, and construction process begin as early as mid-2017.

Targeted height is confirmed to be between 40 and 61 floors, with 12 buildings in total, for a total of 3000 housing units.

In honor of this project, a couple of pictures to celebrate the absolute eyesore that is the current appartment complex:

As long as the design is decent, and they don't do exclusively tower-in-the-park development, all's well.

The area where those commieblocks are should be made into something like Dongbaek Island of Haeundae where those handsome towers of Ipark and We've the Zenith are located. I mean with the beach nearby and view towards the bridge, something awesome should happen instead of boring ass square blocks

Such a dumb idea to build the commie blocks and they don't even face the bay. The water park next to it has been abandoned for years

I'd say GS. That whole bendy-tower thing from the Hyundai proposal is a bit overdone, without being more classic like the GS proposal. It also seems funny for the I'Park development's slogan to be "Only One" when there's another I'Park literally across the bridge in Haeundae-gu.

According to reports, GS is expected to win the bid, and the management team from Hyundai seems to be retreating.

Som this seems like a good time to pull out the promotional video from GS. There it is. There are only a couple of shots with renders of the project.

As I predicted, GS has today been awarded the contract for the tower reconstruction:

Here are some additional photos about the project.
