That looks like a horrific suburban wasteland.

I'm not pleased that Quebec City has decided to build a new downtown on the periphery. The present downtown will be robbed of investment and might turn into a heritage museum frozen in time. A city this big should have a vibrant, fully functioning city core but that future looks in jeopardy if they head down this route.

The initial experiences with high rises in Quebec City left a very bad impression on the population. London UK had a similar experience. London has decided to try again and it's been quite successful. I wish Quebec City would do the same. London is proof that one can have a historic city core and build modern towers that are beautiful and work with the surrounding area.

This is a mistake Quebec City! It's not too late to turn this around.

Isn't Ste. Foy on the south side of the river? This is on the north side of the river to the west of the city centre.

Ce n'est pas la tour la meilleure pour QC, je crois qu'ils doivent adapter mieux l'architecture pour cela qui est plus Quebecoise.

If it is actually built, this building would be massive for such a small city. Quebec City is a metro of only 800,000 people or so.. This would be taller than anything in Canada outside of Toronto!

Stantec in Edmonton will be taller but your point stands. I am glad to see that some of our smaller metros are embracing the skyscraper. Montreal and Vancouver seem to have bowed out and won't build higher than 200m.

I'm happy that the most elegant and classy city in Canada is getting a fantastic skyscraper.

I'm from Vancouver and the city will not repeal its strict policy on view cones anytime soon. It'd be fine if we could compensate for height limitations by getting high-quality buildings, but that doesn't seem to be the case either.

Mountains are awesome for scenery but probably not a thing you want to have for skyscrapers.
