This project is actually moving much faster than expected. The hotel will close on October 6th. So they will be moving quickly towards its demolition. The news was actually told to employees only today (it's not in the article but I heard it at my workplace).

After months of nothing much happening (there was just a fence around the hotel), I saw demolition vehicles on the site of the hotel. They were demolishing the front porch of the hotel. The demolition is now officially underway.

Inno4321 said on page 76 of the the Seoul Projects and Construction thread that the brand for the new hotel replacing the Renaissance Hotel will now be a Rosewood, even though I initially thought that a brand new Renaissance Hotel would be in one of the new towers. Are there any sources reporting or confirming the change of brand from Renaissance to Rosewood in the new Belle Essence building, or did inno4321 just get the brand confused? Surely a Rosewood Hotel would usually have fewer guest-rooms than any Renaissance Hotel.

I can be wrong
But as far as I know mandarian oriental and rosewood compete to built hotel in belle essence site instead of renassance(it is possible this is just marketing rumor for project booming by developer)
but end up rose wood confirm. Yes rose wood very luxury. So I wonder that concept proper in this tall hotel project

p.s Fairmont to built hotel in Parc1

I highly doubt Rosewood is going to have a 600+-room property as part of their chain. Based on what I've seen, Rosewood hotels usually have less than 200 rooms. If they want a hotel that small as part of the Belle Essense Complex, then they may as well add some residential apartments to the upper floors of one of the towers. And that would be a reflection of the new reality that the new hotels coming up today in the world's major cities have their amount of guest rooms be below 300.

They can always develop a new Renaissance Hotel elsewhere in Seoul. I hate Rosewood.
