Agree with the above quote but Calgary is a Canadian city with an ever growing skyline. While, comparatively speaking, not large in either height or number of buildings it has an impressive skyline for such a relatively small city (IMHO).

cheers on the construction of the first Indonesian supertalls!

This is a short documentary about the evolution of Oslo(norway)
throught the years. Now Oslo has became a modern and futuristic city in less than 3 years.
Oslo has a modern architecture and some interesting skyscrapers .
Enjoy my production !

Metro Manila is no longer included as it already has one supertall built. The Grand Hyatt / Metrobank Centre at 318 m!

Vancouver

There are two reasons for not having supertalls in Vancouver:

1) Strict height restrictions.
Vancouver has 27 protected view corridors, established by the City to protect the view of the North Shore mountains, the Downtown skyline, and the surrounding water.

2) City size.
Although Vancouver looks like a big city, but it's actually a small city on a global scale. The City of Vancouver has only 631,486 residents, while Greater Vancouver has only 2.1 million residents. The demand for supertalls is not there yet.

The thing is that, the spire is included when it comes to actual height!

Actually many skyscrapers can be deceiving when it comes to this!

A perfect example are the rankings of Sydney's tallest buildings!

Citigroup Centre and Deutsch Bank Place are the 2nd and 3rd tallest buildings in Sydney.

Citigroup Centre's roof is up to 676 ft but with the spire, it goes up to 797 ft.

Deutsch Bank Place's roof is up to 520 ft but with the spire it goes up to 784 ft.

Another is The Bank of America Tower in Manhattan.

Anyway, The Grand Hyatt / Metrobank Centre in Metro Manila is considered a supertall and the measure includes the spire!

And the distance between the crown and spire is not that great unlike the previously mentioned skyscrapers.
