Wow you read my mind that's the building I going to do next. Orchestra Hall has probably the most interesting history in Detroit. Here a history of Orchestra Hall for those not familar with building(no sense letting this work go waste)
Orchestra Hall was designed by C Howard Crane and opened in 1919. For the next 20 years it served as the home of Detroit Symphony Orchestra until financial trouble forced the DSO to move. It remained closed for the next two years when it reopened as the Paradise Theater. The theater in a Black neighborhood called Paradise Valley it was the center of it's Black residents like Harlem in NYC. The theater became the city's premier venue to see the likes of Ella Fitzgerald Duke Ellington, and Count Basie until 1951, due changing taste ,when the Paradise closed. It saw little use for the next two decades mainly recording work. On Sept 17, 1970 Orchestra Hall was set to be demolished for a pizzeria when a group of DSO musicians set up an emergency protest. The building wasn't supposed to come down for another two weeks, when crews began to show up; if hadn't been for that protest the demolition would've started in a half-hour. The musicians convinced the owners to sell and the DSO took over the property in 1971; it would take the DSO another 17 years to raise enough money in order fully renovate the building. The DSO finally returned to the hall in its 1989-90 season after 50 years. 2003 saw another hall milestone when the $60 million Max M. Fisher Music Center opened(last two pics above). |

Elegant interior--the exterior is not a show-stopper, but is handsome enough in its way.

Again, the exterior is only passable as inoffensive, but the interior definitely has glamour. 7/10

I corrected the poll to make it conform to the rules of this subforum. I also moved the votes to their new coherent location.
Plz get it correct next time. 8,5 for me, I like the outdoor even though it's simple it's pretty elegant. The inside is excellent.

8.5 Again, due to the interior.
But I lean more to over the top decoration, so I like the Fox Theatre better. |

Detroit's Orchestra Hall seems to follow in Chicago's footsteps with a clean and understated exterior to hide a jaw-dropping interior. I don't especially care for the addition, but it's not bad, just a little too retro for my tastes. At first, I thought it dated from the 60's. Over all, I'm giving this building a 7.

Whoever gave this 4 and 4.5 must be smoking crack it may not be the most spectacular building in world, but it is far from ugly. Anway here's an update to some of the pic links as it seems some of them have gone dead
