DISCUSS: Best European Skyline By 2025

DISCUSS: Best European Skyline By 2025

There is a 'Best World Skyline by 2025' discussion thread, however Europe's city skylines, for obvious reasons don't get much attention. As of late I have frequently seen renders of future European skylines, so I thought it would be a good idea to have a concise thread for just that matter. I want this thread not to be just the usual generic picture thread(obviously some pictures, but more importantly what is in the picture), but a general discussion of high-rises planned and upcoming in Europe's cities.

Istanbul

The construction of high-rises in Istanbul is a bit out of control. They pop up everywhere and there seem to be no plan, if you have the money you will get your permit. If they had built all the skyscrapers in a designated area it would probably have a really impressive skyline but now as a result of bad planning it's too spread out. Note that this picture only shows 3 of the clusters; Left - Sisli/Bomonti, Middle - Levent, Right - Maslak. There are many tall buildings just behind the hill from where this picture is taken, in Atasehir. And then we also have Ümraniye, Kartal, Seyrantepe, Kozyatagi, Kucukcekmece and Halkali with each having multiple towers above 100m.

You can see many of the U/C towers in this picture, especially the cluster just above the bridge and the high twins in the middle of the picture.

This list I made is a bit outdated but it's a good estimate:

The GIF you made is really good and shows the impact the proposed and U/C towers will make on the skyline. Are most of the towers going up for commercial use or residential?

It's very mixed but I would say about 65/35 in favor of offices in Levent Maslak, Kozyatagi, Ümraniye and about 50/50 in Sisli, Bomonti, Kartal, Seyrantepe. Atasehir, Kucukcekmece and Halkali is mainly residential, the last 2 will remain so but Atasehir is getting a whole new cluster of banking towers which will make the office ratio maybe even higher than in Levent.

Atasehir Finance Center - Masterplan

You can find a summary of possible designs here: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...postcount=1026

Here are the clusters, many are a bit outdated. It really looks like totally different cities but they are all in the radius of 30km

Levent

Atasehir

Bomonti

Maslak

Sisli

Maltepe

Kartal

Kozyatagi

Halkali (in the foreground, Kucukcekmece in background)

Kucukcekmece

Ümraniye

Well if no one answers than my 2 posts will of course be a big part of the thread, but it's still just 2 posts. The thread has a topic and I posted according to it, so I don't see the problem here?

Has anyone got any information on future projects in Paris. I think we don't see enough of Paris on here, so it would be good to look at.

The Turkish government have taken steps to demolishing some of the present skyscrapers in Istanbul in order to preserve the historical skyline of the city, shambles, shamble I tell you, what mad man would do such a thing, ah right Erdogan and his govt, damn this guy. I doubt the Turkish govt can control the skyscraper boom though, especially knowing how corrupt they are. I need not to go in to depth about their corruption. Anyway here's an article on it.

How can an already completed skyscraper be demolished, if somebody has bought apartments and may be living there?

They are the ones controlling it and it's thanks to the constructions they have become rich. With the help of selling government property to loyal friends, changing the construction right (changing the max height etc.) and getting bribes in return.

Many constructions are also illegal and even-though the courts order the construction to stop they continue to build, because they know Erdogan and his police supports them.

This project you are talking about caused too much controversy because of some pictures like this

in the news and they had to do something to make his supporters happy. But I doubt it will be demolished. His supporters are simpleminded and they will forget all about it as long as the media doesn't bring it up, they control the media also so that won't happen...

You can see many of the U/C towers in this picture, especially the cluster just above the bridge and the high twins in the middle of the picture.
..
I like this great city and it seems that it finally gets the amount of skyscrapers that suits a city of 14 million.

I posted these in the 'world best skyline thread' and did not explain much about what these were. This is an extensive area under development in London, called Nine Elms. It was predominately an industrial estate featuring warehouses and small business units, including a Royal Mail sorting office, the auction house Christie's warehouse and other units. Obviously as seen in the second picture, the old famous Battersea Power Station is situated to the west of Nine Elms.

There is currently one completed skyscraper in the development, as seen below:

Status: Completed

1. St George Wharf Tower | 181m

There are currently, two +100m buildings U/C:

Status: U/C

1. Nine Elms Point | 126m | U/C
2. Vauxhall Sky Gardens | 120m | U/C

The area will undergo an incredible transformation:

Would be interesting to know other European cities, U/C, Approved and Proposed skyscrapers and +100m buildings?
