I guess this buildings facade would be completed in time for the 2008 games.

The cladding is quite impressive. It's like the original rendering in the wave style.

Amazing building to see it rise!!

Thas is probelbly the fastest growing building in China en the world!!!

In about a year en a half the totaly construction is almost finished.
It is a stunning fast building in almost a jear they creating 70 floors, end the top of the building is almost finished.

The first floor about groundlevel was about 01-09-2006 end a year later the almost finished the building. Thats a stunning speed of rising!!!

They have created almost 7 floors in a month. (80 floors in a year).

The Burj Dubai is mutch faster its creating 10 floors in a month.
(a level in three days).

Yeah, the speed is truly staggering.

By the way, a funny note about that rendering, my girlfriend's office building (e-Tower) has "disappeared". It had already been rumoured for quite some time that the e-Tower would have to be taken away... but the evidence is now becoming more and more convincing!

(by the way, you can see the e-Tower in my highres overview photo, on the righthand side of the frame, with the "round" glass side)

Btw, for those who hadn't seen e-Tower before, here it is from another angle:

I've heard several different reasonings behind its probable demise:

1. There are problems with its licensing (v. important in the PRC), it was originally designed as a residential complex, therefore some offices have rather weird layouts

2. Guanghua lu (the east west street just north of CWTC) was being made wider (this has now been done, without affecting the e-Tower)

3. CWTC3's peripheral buildings simply needed the space- quite a few connected auxiliary building structures seem to be planned around the main tower

My guess is that it's a combination of nr 3 and nr 1 (in that order). I'll keep you posted on any news...

Thanks bud, it's sad though to have to remove a nice building like eTower.
