I am surprised at seeing the clear blue sky. Did Beijing government take steps to improve air quality? It seems Beijing not very polluted.

Not sure what the government did, but the air quality seems good while I was there for 3 days. Lots of construction activities, come 2008 Olympics, Beijing will be the in the limelight !

The demand for steel in China is incredible. Here in England, people are going to extraordinary lengths to get the steel and sell it. The price they get is very low most of the time too. For example, there was a time when manhole covers in the street and roads were being stolen making it very dangerous for cars. Also, scrap cars were being taken from scrap heaps to be sold for their steel content. It is ridiculous but China is hungry for steel!

I think the amount of steel explain the structure needs to be very strong to prevent anything like terrorists attack as it is a world trade centre of beijing...........beijing is spending shit loads of money for environment, they r moving the biggest steel plant to other city to make the air better
