Willis Tower to be renamed Blackstone Tower?

Chicago's tallest building could soon be named after a billionaire's private equity firm

http://www.businessinsider.com/chica...er-next-2015-3

Quote:
The Willis Tower could soon become the Blackstone Tower.

Steve Schwarzman's private equity fund is buying the Willis Tower, it announced Monday. At 110 stories, the Willis Tower bills itself as the fifth-tallest office building in the world (it was first called the Sears Tower).
Hope it changes. It's so much better than "Willis Tower"
"Whatchu talkin' bout Willis.."

So glad "Salesforce" didn't buy it...

Blackstone Tower sounds pretty epic tbh. Much better than Willis.

I never really liked the name 'Willis Tower', and I still call it the Sears Tower....old habits die hard I guess.

Blackstone isn't bad.

It actually fits the tower too, since it's black

'Willis' is the name I'd imagine of a thin wimpy barista hipster working at Starbucks.

I don't see much hope for the Sears company as a whole, much less for them to buy back their tower.

By the way, there are now possible plans to rename the John Hancock Center:

Proper Chicagoans will continue to call it Sears Tower no matter what. Same for the Hancock Center.

I agree; it will always and forever be, the Sears Tower. The only time a new name might take is when those who knew it as the Sears Tower are long gone.
