LOS ANGELES | Beacon On Hill Tower | 123m | 405ft | 33 fl | Pro

First Look at the 33-Story Grand Central Market Tower

Quote:
It seems like only yesterday that we learned of a new skyscraper headed for Downtown, this one adding to the roster of tower projects not in the Financial District or South Park, but in the Historic Core. (That actually did happen just yesterday.) Today, we have our first glimpse of the glassy, 33-story giant, designed by TCA Architects, and set to loom above Grand Central Market and across the street from the Angels Flight funicular.

The VP of Development for Equity Residential tells Curbed that the 428 units in the building will be rentals, and that residents will enjoy a ninth-floor amenity deck (pool, spa, barbecue, outdoor communal space), as well as a "sky lounge" on floor 33.

That light emanating off the top of the building, referred to in renderings simply as 4th & Hill, is a "beacon" that should be visible from "all over LA."

The soonest the project would begin construction would be early 2016, and from there work would probably take about two years.

Looks like they're playing off the Beacon name with all that light on top. Unfortunately, it will be much shorter than the neighboring buildings on Bunker Hill.
