I believe the tallest in Canada is St. Joseph's Oratory in Montreal at 129 m. It can hold 10,000 people or 2,400 seated. The dome is the 3rd largest of its kind in the world after the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace of Yamoussoukro in Côte d'Ivoire and Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome.

Visited one of these giant Buddha's in december 2014, they are really cool and impressive, can only suggest doing it for a day trip. You won't learn much about history though since most of them were done in the 1990s and later, which I personally do not mind at all.
