Yep, - I heard the same early this morning on Sky News. It would have been great for me, - I could have rented my sea view apt out for a bloody mint!! Really nice one bed sea facing apt with 3 large balconies! If only Frank Khoie hadn't stolen all our money and ended up in jail. If only the matter was not now in the hands of the RAK Courts. If only LHB could be complete before the Cup! If only .........!! |

from the RAKIA:
Press Release Ras Al Khaimah to host 33rd America’s Cup in 2010 August 6, 2009 Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (RAKIA), the government body responsible for the socioeconomic growth of the emirate, has announced that Ras Al Khaimah will be hosting the prestigious America’s Cup sailing competition in February of 2010, marking the first time that the race will be held in the Middle East. RAK Investment Authority said that the Cup is the first of a series of upcoming prominent events that will reinforce RAK’s emerging status as a leading residential and tourist destination in the region. It added that the trend exposes the emirate to a global audience of prospective investors and potential industry partners who stand to benefit significantly from the growing local portfolio of prime investment offerings as well as a pro-business environment. H.H. Sheikh Saud Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, said: “We’ve made critical improvements to our commercial and economic infrastructure that are paying off in terms of high tourist footfall and rising numbers of investors and business organisations. We are directing our success towards the events sector as well, with the America’s Cup serving as a centrepiece addition. RAK's association with prestigious global events will help further enhance its image as a rapidly-evolving economy and a highly attractive investment and leisure destination in the Middle East.” RAKIA has been expediting various development initiatives and implementing new strategies to bolster RAK's economic diversification program. The government body affirmed that the energetic pace of socioeconomic advancement and various investor-friendly benefits such as 100 per cent exemption on income and corporate tax; zero import, export, sales and wealth taxes; 100 per cent repatriation of capital and profits; zero restrictions on hiring expatriates; and land at concessional rates have helped draw various industries both regionally and abroad to the emirate. “Ras Al Khaimah continues to enjoy a rapid influx of regional and international investors, thus positioning it to easily achieve its growth targets. Investors are impressed with the existing infrastructure, world-class facilities and numerous development projects currently underway. The growing investor confidence in the RAK economy is opening up even more opportunities to extend the emirate's economic diversification program into niche areas such as elite sporting events,” added Dr. Khater Massaad, CEO, RAKIA. Established in 2005, RAKIA is a pillar of the emirate's economic progress, generating billions of dollars in annual revenues through groundbreaking investment initiatives within the emirate and across the international markets. Under RAKIA's guidance, Ras Al Khaimah has been able to attract over 2,000 local and foreign investors representing over USD2.3 billion in investments to the Industrial and Free Zones in Al Hamra and the Industrial Park in Al Ghail. Ras Al Khaimah is one of the fastest growing economies in the Gulf. Aside from being an investment haven, the coastal emirate is also one of the region's favourite tourist destinations, featuring pristine beaches, majestic mountains, and a unique community where age-old traditions and modern life co-exist harmoniously. |

Press Release
RAKIA, Al Hamra Real Estate and Rakeen Development to promote Ras Al Khaimah as a world-class investment and tourist destination during Cityscape 2009 October 3, 2009 Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (RAKIA), Al Hamra Real Estate and Rakeen will leverage the growing global interest in Ras Al Khaimah as a leading business investment and tourism destination during their participation at Cityscape Dubai 2009. The three entities will collectively showcase a selection of world-class residential and mixed-use developments, attractive free-zone packages, onshore and offshore business solutions and a rapidly growing global portfolio of real estate projects in what is projected to be one of the most exciting showcase presentations during the trade event. Among the key developments that will headline the exhibition are Al Marjan Island, the first man-made island in Ras Al Khaimah; the Bab Al Bahr mixed-use development, Gateway City, Al Hamra Village mixed-use development, RAKIA Amenities Centre, and various business opportunities within RAKIA's free zone. For Cityscape Dubai, RAKIA, Al Hamra Real Estate and Rakeen have jointly booked 400 square metres of exhibition space at Stand No. 5B10 at the entrance to Hall 5 of Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, where the event runs from October 5-8, 2009. Dr. Khater Massaad, CEO of RAKIA, said, "We have developed a distinct and extensive exhibition area that will help visitors better appreciate the transformation of Ras Al Khaimah as a haven for sustainable development and an attractive lifestyle, tourism and business destination. Our participation at Cityscape is also part of our efforts to showcase the pristine natural beauty of Ras Al Khaimah, where residents can enjoy the emirate's white sandy beaches, red desert dunes and majestic Hajjar mountains, while being in proximity to the comforts of state-of-the-art residential and commercial amenities." "All our developments are located within a radius of 10 kilometres, creating greater accessibility and flexibility to attend to various business, leisure and private activities," added Dr. Massaad. During Cityscape, Dr. Massaad will also speak on behalf of RAKIA, Al Hamra Real Estate and Rakeen at a Cityscape Connect Seminar titled ‘Ras Al Khaimah: Emerging Emirate On The Move’. Representatives of RAK Tourism and RAK Properties will also join Dr. Massaad during the open-to-all seminar, which will be held on October 07, 2009 from 12:30 to 13:30 hours. The combined showcase will also provide various presentations of the construction progress of real estate developments being undertaken by RAKIA and Rakeen, while the fully completed facilities within Al Hamra Village will be prominently displayed to highlight the new project's reputation as one of the most complete developments in the UAE. A value-added feature is a unique showcase of groundbreaking mixed-use developments and authentic project models that are being undertaken by Rakeen in Lebanon, Congo (DRC), Georgia, Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and other international destinations. "We hope that Cityscape Dubai will help set off a new growth trend in the region, marking the beginning of a revival of the real estate sector. Our solid track record of being honest, transparent and reliable developers, substantiated by a visionary strategy and strong funding, has helped maintain our firm position within the industry through the past difficult months. We are determined to deliver on our promises and to keep proving that we deserve the trust of our esteemed investors and business partners. Ras Al Khaimah is ready for new challenges and will continue to script new success stories, especially now that the America’s Cup is just around the corner," concluded Dr. Massaad. Ras Al Khaimah recently announced that it will host the prestigious 33rd America's Cup, which will be held in Al Hamra Village in February 2010. A 22-hectare island within Al Hamra Village lagoon will serve as the base for the sailing event. The island will accommodate the team bases and facilities for the media, the sponsors and the viewing public. |
