It's not so much that the design is ugly as it is ludicrously disproportionate. The design could be halfway decent if it were about a quarter of the planned height, and about an eighth of the planned width.
But regardless, I don't think this has much, if any chances of being built.

I agree, the height to width ratio is suited for a highrise, maximally a skyscraper, definitely not a WTB megatall. I think the height would be very well achievable until 2030, but the width makes the proposal very unrealistic. With this height it would have to be of a comparable width to the Burj Khalifa, or the Kingdom Tower in today's age. I am certain that buildings like this proposal will be common one day, but that day will be quite a few decades in the future. With today's technology I just don't see this happening

And if this monster would be build, it would take forever! It looks like one floor of the Edison Tower is as large as 100 floors of Burj Khalifa's. Imagine how long it will take to build one floor of those and then more than 200 similar
And just imagine the costs of the project
The completion would be many, many decades away..

Agreed, the design is ugly, but hell, I'd gladly take any design if it's 1 310 meters tall

The maglev elevators are the key element in the future of vertical cities

‘ve seen around here a couple of projects vertical cities, that they remain in that, in appealing to many and impossible for other projects, but they bring us a possible approach how we will live in the coming years due to lack of space especially in large cities.

This week has released one more, but the difference with the others is that it has been ranked as the most viable thanks to its architectural, economic and sustainable planning, where the elevators maglev come to solve one of the problems that has arisen in this kind of development, which is the to move between floors in a simple and immediate way, not only vertically but also horizontally.

Edison Tower: 1310 meters of Innovation and Technology

La Torre Edison is a concept that peculiarly was patented in 2000 and today is beginning to take shape because its creator, Frank Jendrusch , it has been dedicated to solving problems step by step and doubts that have arisen to realize its construction. One such problem is to make the people of this amazing skyscrapers can move from one place to another efficiently and this has managed to get the support of the company ThyssenKrupp and MULTI, a lift no wires and can travel vertically or horizontally.

With MULTI planned move to a lot of locals and visitors as this system allows each elevator trip 5 meters per second with stops every 50 meters so that each person must wait up to 30 seconds for the next elevator.

As for the skyscraper, it would integrate technology totally independent city where built, this thanks to a system that would use the airflow over turbines located inside and outside the skyscraper, plus photovoltaic cells throughout the structure would be achieved in order to create your own energy, and water use systems and waste.

The height that this tower would reach no less than 1310 meters to put that in perspective, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai is the tallest structure in the world so far with its 828 meters.

Of course there are still many details and questions that must be resolved before starting construction, but its creator is convinced that the dream may conclude opened its tower in 2030 year he believes begin the proliferation of so-called vertical cities. We’ll see if their predictions are correct.
