Photos from my neighbourhood (Vuosaari/Helsinki)

Terveiset Vuosaaresta! - Greetings from Vuosaari!

It was very exciting to see pictures from Zverynas district/Vilnius and Bolderaja/Riga so I decided to show my own neighbourhood, Vuosaari which locates about 15 km:s east from the Helsinki city centre. Vuosaari is also the eastern end of the Helsinki metro line.

Ok, I admit that my neighbourhood is quite ugly but the surrounding nature is quite beautiful.

And then straight to the pictures:

Home sweet home..

Uhh!

''Wannabe commieblock''

But there is also something beautiful, like new houses in Aurinkolahti by night.

Aurinkolahti again - not so beautiful at this time.

As I said, surrounding nature is quite beautiful, so some naturepics also:

Thank for attenttion! New pics might be added soon.

Well made pictures (did you take them?). As for me it doesn't look "ugly", a rather typical residential suburb of multistorey apartment blocks ("commieblocks"). And isn't the Cirrus tower construction somewhere in the place?

If I post pictures that I have not taken, the photographer is mentioned. So I took these pictures.

Yes. In few pics you can see the crane which builds Cirrus right now.

You are right, words ''ugly'' and ''wannabe commieblock'' were not right words, anyway i tried to say that the houses in Vuosaari are quite non-personal and boring. For example these new residential buildings (Photo by Miestai.net) are much better i think - they have some personal looking (not just elemential standards like in ''commieblocks'').

Thanks for comments.

Nice pics. I`m not sure if i`d like to live in such district, because on 1.,3.
and 4. picture district looks depressing and sad, but otherwise it`s a fine place, surrounding nature is superb.

I really like Aurinkolahti area in Vuosaari, have you got any beach pictures from the summer? Also, the upcoming canal in Vuosaari looks interesting. The suburb itself could be better looking, but's not terribly bad either. If anything, I'd like if there were little shops and such in the suburb, than just around Columbus - it's another question altogether whether they'd be profitable in such environment, however.

What's the current population in the suburb? ~20,000?
