For current only:
1) Frankfurt
2) Paris
3) Istanbul
4) London

I can't think of another european city with a real skyline right now.

We're talking about CURRENT skylines, not something that will maybe build in 2139, don't forget that guys

So my favourites are

1) Frankfurt (with unbeatable lead at this time)
2) Paris (good concept with the arche in the middle)
3) London
4) Istanbul
5) Warsaw

The others lacks quantity and almost all of the "scrapers" are simply crap... Sorry, but that's the truth today. Maybe we'll see well improved skylines soon...

Best Skylines

Definitely Frankfurt has the best SKYLINE now and in a few years and forever
1. FRANKFURT AM MAIN
2. PARIS
3.LONDON

In the future:
1. FRANKFURT AM MAIN
2.LONDON
3. PARIS

Frankfurt:

I'm not sure about 'forever'

Why are you spamming this thread with these nice pics of an asian city without a skyline that can compete with that of Istanbul?

1 London (Canary Wharf, Swiss Re & Lloyd, > nice integration of strict Victorian architecture with Deconstructivist/Postmodernist buildings)
2 Frankfurt (> most USA-looking skyline, therefore not really 'European', thus not on first place)
3 Paris (La Défense, Tour de Montparnasse, Centre Pompidou ... > especially how they managed to make LD's skyline in harmony with the Champs-Elyséé - unique!)

other important skylines: Warsaw, Rotterdam, Istanbul, Moscow, Berlin (not heard before), The Hague, Madrid ... > all typical European skylines, build by European architects, and depicting the compactness of European cities and the hard-working, humble European people

The competition is only between Paris and Frankfurt; London, Istambul, Warsaw and Rotterdam are in a lower level.

IMO the `only` skyscrapercity in Europe is Frankfurt.

However, comparing to Asian cities, I think Frankfurt is only at the same par with `tertiary` cities like Nanjing ( China ), Taichung ( Taiwan ) , or Penang.

For those who write "now", and "future", you must know that Frankfurt, Paris, London are constently building and planning as well as Madrid, Istambul and all. So you'd better concentrate on what exists now, we don't know what the future will be like.

1) Paris/Frankfurt (at night Frankfurt wins though)
2) Istambul
3) London
4) Warsaw

Well i guess if you go with the asian definition of skyline then yes there is only one skyscrapercity. But since we are talking about europe, its ok to have an inferior level and allow cities such as Paris, London, and Istanbul into the mix as well.

Aren't we forgetting Paris and London?

I prefer Frankfurt's skyline compared to the cities you mentioned. And Frankfurt looks much better than Penang.

Paris' skyscrapers (La Defense) seem more densely packed than either London or Frankfurt. The effect is a more grand appearance.

The only difference is, Frankfurt's skyscrapers are more iconic especially the Messeturm and Commerzebank.

But La Defense is dense though.

La Defense is dense because it is only 2 km2.
3.5 millions sqm of office space in 2 km2.

Yes the Grande Arche is iconic. Anyway, La Defense reminds me of Century City in Los Angeles.
