Not a highrise downtown skyline a l"Americaine perhaps but London does have a real skyones - one of the most iconic on Earth. St. Pauls, Houses of parliament etc. All cities have a skyline.

One of the best in Europe is Oxford and it doesn't even know what a skyscraper is. !!!

I like the clusters of western European cities especially those of Frankfurt, Paris and London.

I prefer the Paris cluster in La Defense. The buildings are more densely packed together, and the central boulevard makes it more grand.

La Defense has a really nice cluster and has some futuristic looking buildings. But I think the place looks better as it is right now. There was a supertall planned for that area called La Tour Sans Fins but never went to effect.

I don't think a supertall will take away from the cluster or the spaciousness of the grand boulevard. One tall building will not greatly enhance or destroy the urban planning concept behind La Defense unless it's placed smack in the middle of the boulevard, which I don't think it likely as the metro runs right beneath it.

In fact two supertall (300m+) are approved in la Defense and a third is rumored.

La Tour Sans Fins was approved in 1990's but because the economic crisis this tower was never built.

Is there a thread or images of these planned supertalls?

I believe the only supertalls that will get built in Paris would be in La Defense, which would centralize the city's skyscrapers. After Tour Montparnasse, I don't think supertalls would be well received in the context of blending in with the neighborhood.

If any supertall or any skyscraper is gonna be built in Paris, it's gonna be outside the city core. The tallest buildings in the city is surely gonna be in La Defense.

But the city core still has some high-rises like the ones near the Statue of Liberty.
