Barcelona's skyline is mostly lowrises with very few big ones popping out here and there :

Even with intensification, I don't see a big skyline coming out any time soon.

Barcelona's skyline is ok but not as impressive as Frankfurt or London. But the city does have a landmark scraper which is The Torre Agbar

Barcelona's skyline is flat indeed, lack of high-rise buildings.

How about those two towers that were built during the Barcelona Olympics?

Barcelona's few skyscrapers are all scattered around the eastern end of the city. Agbar and the Olympic towers are fairly far apart. They, and Sagrada, form a triangle of some sort.

Notice Agbar is peeking on the right :

Those are the towers I'm talking about

Anyway, I think most skyscrapers in European cities are built in the outskirts than in the city centre like Paris for example. Some exceptions are London and Frankfurt.

Frankfurt, hands down. The towers are very tall there, and I love Messeturm. The skyline is very balanced and the area around it is very nice.

Like many European cities, there are 2 skylines - the classical and the modern.

London - the classical

London - modern (Canary Wharf)

In London, that mix is not as evident since there are new buildings in the City, the historic core of the city. However, in Paris, the segregation is quite obvious and clear.

Paris - classique

Paris - moderne (La Defense)

wow, brisavoine, those two night shots of Paris are unbelievable!

As a photographer, I'm incredibly impressed with how he achieved this. It looks as though he has taken a single photo in RAW (or rather, a series for a panorama) and then processed them twice, one with the white balance set to Tungsten, and the other to Fluorescent! And then combined them. This gives terrific separation between the suburbs and the city.

Brilliant idea! I have to try this. Damn it's a bit of work though.

Wait, wait, wait. I don't want to take credit for photos that are not mine. The actual author of the photos is indicated on the bottom right corner if you pay attention. I was just reproducing them here for everybody to enjoy.
