CHELYABINSK | Public Transport

This thread is about public transport in Chelyabinsk, Russia. Tram map from urbanrail.net:



Chelyabinsk tram was opened on 5th January 1932 and now has 15 routes and 68,7 km of tracks:













Trolleybus network has 18 routes and 88,2 km of wires:









City is one of three Russian cities, better known for ill-fated metro project. Construction has been delayed numurous times and completion is unknown:

For 2015, 541 million roubles are reserved for metro, part of which will be spent on new Torgoviy Tsentr station:



Phase 1 consists of 5,7 km of tracks and 4 stations:













Komsomolskaya Plotshad station - the only one completed station, built in 2011:

These are not stations but typically small (often unsigned) platforms that are not close to any named settlements. Here is a list from wikipedia:

Metro construction in Chelyabinsk was officially stopped one and half year ago or so (like in Omsk and Krasnoyarsk), now they only spending money in order to support completed tunnel sections in necessary conditions.

All trams from UKVZ, is a railroad carriage works in Chelyabinsk Oblast

For line 1, ~50000 people/day. For the entire metro system of 3 lines, it was around ~150000 people/day. But that was based off of 1990s city demographics....

The population since 1990 has only grown by about 7%. However, I wouldn't be surprised if a city like Chelyabinsk has nearly universal car ownership these days, and definitely much higher than in 1990.
