Winning design of the new central bus terminal presented.

  • Winning design comes from Büro Gerber Architekten GmbH (Dortmund)
  • Estimated costs amount to 60 million Euro.
  • Start of construction is in the second half of 2016.
  • Completion is scheduled for 2018.
  • Planned are among other things a Ramada Hotel (4 stars) with 200 rooms, restaurant, conference rooms on the first floor, own car driveway and a spa area in the attic.
  • A H2 Hotel ( 2 stars) with 300 rooms on the north side of the Ramada Hotels
  • A "Flanier Plaza" with trees and small shops as well as a large car park with 550 parking spaces.

I think they should have built the second design. Looks more Bauhaus-y and therefore fits the German context better.

I think the first-placed design is better, because it fits better with the neighboring buildings (Central Station and new LWB-Office building)
