Really nice stickers, but why on a airplane that was flying for only a few days more?

Good question. Probably it's to show the airline's milestone and the aircraft represents KLM's longevity over the years... that aircraft is a tad over 20 years old. It may be close to retirement, but it is used to showcase that aircraft a few more times.

KLM Royal Dutch B747-400M, "City of Dubai" (reg. PH-BFD)

Actually, the main difference between the revised livery and the current one would be the curvilinear design at the front of the plane. And by the way, that image was taken indoors, which would show a much stronger blue than when exposed to the outside elements.

Oh, I get it. I hope in an outside photo the blue looks lighter as the current one

Yep. It's inside a hangar, being repainted with the revised livery since the current one is straight linear all through the cockpit area.

Bump... From Business Traveler:

KLM Revamps B777 Economy Seating

With slimline seating becoming the norm, the venerable Dutch carrier will be installing the revamped seats, complete with new features, on board all of its B777 aircraft by 2016.

Quote:
KLM has unveiled (on 14 November 2014) new slimline seating for its fleet of B777 aircraft, which ply the Dutch carrier's most important long distance routes.

The new thinner seating will eventually be installed right across KLM's fleet of older B777-200ERs and newer B777-300ERs.

But, sadly, passengers will discover that the ten-across 3-4-3 layout already fitted to the B777-300ERs will now be extended to the B777-200ERs. Currently, the B777-200ERs are configured 3-3-3.

Looks like the B737 will also be getting the new livery.

I actually used Air France/KLM recently to fly to Istanbul and I noticed that despite being the same company, the two entities seem to be run very differently with KLM using older, smaller aircraft. That being said though I have no complaints about my experience with either airline.

That's true. And by the way, KLM keeps evolving despite its age (at 95 years old)... yet it keeps its humble origins in Amsterdam.

And by the way, check your PM. An admin sent you a message lately waiting for your response.

How did you came to this conclusion.

Usually on the Istanbul flights the KLM flights are operated by a 737 (all variants) and the Air France flights by a A320 (all variants). It's pretty much the same size and both are very flexible using the smallest to biggest versions based on demand. The average age of the KLM 737 NGs is also younger then the average age of the AFs A320 family fleet.

It's actually pretty similar to any other major European airline operations.
