In his eight-year career at Air France Spinetta has shown a knack for turning turbulent situations into smooth landings. In the 1990s he transformed a moneylosing state-owned airline into one of Europe's best.

I was thinking GRU would be a much better choice for AF's A380... but, GIG is also a good choice.

Is it safe to fly Air France? (Flight 447 comes to mind)

Air travel in general is pretty safe, and Air France is governed by European Union flight safety regulations which regulate aircraft maintenance, safety regulations, etc. So aside from a few isolated incidents (which probably have nothing to do with the airline in question), I would say it is pretty safe.

But GRU has the problem with the runway, although the Terminal 3 is able to recieve 380.

Air France-KLM defers 2015/16 777s, cites poor financial results, low fuel prices

Quote:
Air France-KLM said today that it will defer delivery of 10 Boeing 777-300ERs scheduled for delivery in 2015/16 due to lower than expected financial results and because the current fuel price environment makes taking the airplanes less compelling.

Hmmm... looks like any new flights or aircraft swaps could take much longer than expected? Perhaps it is high time for them to boost frequencies on their most popular routes for the time being to recoup any potential losses from delayed deliveries.

But for extra frequencies you also need more planes, which they won't get now as fast as planned.

This will just mean that the older planes like the 747-400s will stay a bit longer in the fleet.

Yep, especially the B747-400 (M)s... it's sad to see all the MD-11s go, though. But I think the A330s and B777s provide adequate amount of distance and capacity for long-haul services. Also, what would be the furthest destinations their A330s (-200 and -300) go with KLM?

KLM doesn't really use the full range of their A330. I think the furthest route for both the A332 & A333 is actually your neck of the woods, San Francisco. Followed by Aruba/Curacao & Vancouver. They used to fly to some Chinese destinations like Chengdu as well, but not anymore.

Ah I see. It is interesting that while San Francisco gets the A332, the B744s are used to Los Angeles. And by the way, can an A333 really operate all the way to SFO? I mean, given its distance, I think it might be better off serving Seattle or Denver...

As KLM is actually using the A333 to San Fransisco the answer to your first question is already answered. It's about 2,000 km short of the max range of the A333, they can even use it without any weight penalties.

The other US destinations where KLM uses their A330s are Atlanta & Washington. Vancouver and from next year Edmonton are the Canadian destinations. But it's core routes are the Dutch Antilles, East & West Africa and the Middle East.

Is the 737 of the top with the GOL livery behind the Transavia's one?
The new livery is much better. Clean

No. It's the PR-GGX. In the summers '11, '13 and '14 this plane was leased from GOL and changed to the PH-GGX.

I prefer Transavia's old livery. It just looks more lively.

Should've added some more color to the livery.
