The 25 km Cotonou – Pahou line is being rehabilitated

BENIN: President Thomas Bony Yayi joined Vincent Bolloré, CEO of railway concessionaire Bolloré Group, to officially launch the rehabilitation of the 25 km metre gauge Cotonou – Pahou line on June 2.

The project includes complete replacement of the track and the rehabilitation of the stations at Cadjèhoun Saint-Jean, Godomey, Cococodji and Pahou

Benin-Niger rail link ‘another step forward’

THE prime minister of Benin, Mr Lionel Zinsou signed a concession agreement with his Nigerien counterpart, Mr Brigi Rafini and Bolloré Group's CEO, Mr Thierry Ballard, in Niamey on August 13

Under the Bénirail concession agreement, Bolloré will rehabilitate the existing metre-gauge Cotonou – Parakou line, including the rehabilitation of four stations, as well as extend it approximately 574km to Niamey in Niger.

According to Bolloré, the agreement is 'another step forward' in the construction of the West Africa rail loop, which ultimately aims to connect landlocked Niger and Burkina Faso with the coastal countries of Côte d'Ivoire, Benin, and Togo
