Located on a site that was the former home to Rome’s hippodrome, the new district is developed by Eurnova SRL (Rome). The larger master plan is conceived by Studio Libeskind in collaboration with Meis Studio (limited to only AS ROMA stadium and the sporting area) and other 30 architecture studios around the world (some are Arup, Land and Piuarch). The project includes 3 skyscrapers, the new AS ROMA stadium, training facilities, low and high-rise office buildings, retail, dining, and cinemas. The masterplan envisions a round-the-clock, sustainable, urban district linked to the historic center of Rome.

The design of the skyscrapers is conceived as a conversation between the 3 buildings. They stand in close volumetric relationship—seemingly cut from one stone block (Libeskind has taken inspiration from the "concio", the fundamental architectural element of the ancient roman architecture style). The volumes fit into each other like antique building blocks creating a composition of elements that are both connected and singular.

The towers are arranged in a triangular formation, with a 3,000 sqm (9,842.52 ft) colonnaded public plaza, landscaped with a verdant garden and reflecting pools. The towers will be linked to the stadium by means of a retail boulevard that runs from the Tor di Valle metro station to the AS Roma stadium.

The three towers emerge from a three-story podium with a planted green roof that, at street level, will provide amenities such as cafes and shopping. The towers are clad in a web of panels, made of special ceramics that will achieve an effect of increased opacity of the structure, that breaks up the glazed façade and creates a unified aesthetic between the trio. Each tower exposes one or two massive glazed garden zones with multi-level open spaces for work, recreation and events.

Planted with multiple green features including full-grown trees, the atrium-like spaces will provide spectacular, unobstructed views of the city and the central piazza, as well as enhance the room climate through natural shading, air filtering and circulation. The garden facades are shaped by folded glass planes. Tower One forms the centerpiece of the composition, featuring two vertical gardens on opposite sides, one on the lower half and the other on the upper floors. With a central core, the tower provides for efficient office layouts, while the deeper, multi-level garden zones allow for flexible, open work spaces.

Site
Total Area: 1.83 sq km - 183 hectares - 452.20 acres
To note: 50 per cent of the area is dedicated to a park land

Use
36% sports activities
33% entertainment
31% offices / shopping / restaurants

Total investment +1.6 billion euro

I don't like the bases, but the towers themselves look interesting. Looks like Rome was inspired by Milan's Dritto, Storto and Curvo towers.

Fine-looking buildings, but they really do "tower" over the area. I hope there are some other buildings with height planned for that part of the city.

Don't think so.

Not in actual plans, however. Maybe in the future.

I have visited Rome recently, and I was astonished that there are so few buildings there (over 10 floors, I mean). It gives the city a more ancient look, which is nice for turists, but makes it look so far behind from other capitals... I believe a couple more highrises would make this change, so it is a great addition to the city having buildings over 200m there.
