daniel libeskind plans three office towers for rome's tor di valle district

studio libeskind has revealed the design of three office towers for the city center of rome, forming a new, urban district adjacent to the A.S. roma stadium. sited at the heart of the planned tor di valle business district, the trio of structures work in conversation with one another, as if cut from a single stone block. the volumes fit together like building blocks, forming a composition of elements that act both in tandem with one another and alone. arranged in a triangular formation upon a 3,000 square-meter public piazza, the towers — which vary in height up to 220 meters — are landscaped with lush vegetation and reflecting pools.

Here you can download the whole project (Stadium + Skyscrapers), it's the website of the city of Rome:

http://www.urbanistica.comune.roma.i...ordivalle.html

The skyscrapers file is 6.2_Comparto B1

These are some images from the project files:

Another disaster of a design for Europe.

Now let me tell you how I feel by quoting myself;

Then WWII happen, and... I guess it killed the soul of Europe because since then all that is being build all over that continent is crappy, Corbusier bland modernism. Maybe Calatrava has a few good structures, but where are the rest? Wake up Europe. You need to bring beauty in architecture back.

Wow! This is a brave design, but at least new skyscrapers for Rome. This city is lack of them despite being capital. Milan-Rome is like Frankfurt-Berlin.

Tower 1 of Trilogy will be the tallest skyscraper in Italy when considering the height to roof. In addition there is a dispute regarding the height of the Unicredit Tower in Milan, which they say is 215 meters high instead of 231 meters. In this case the tower 1 of Trilogy would be the highest skyscraper in Italy.

i don't think it fit's there, though they are far away from the center, the skyline of rome is so beautiful and iconic because of all those ancient domes and church towers, these modern giants would ruin it imo.

Or maybe will make it even better.

Coexistence of ancient domes and modern skyscrapers isn't always worse. Besides, Trilogy will be very far from city center: domes will still be the main skyline.

But... On the side, very far, almost foggy... Modernity takes a huge step towards the eternal city.

Which is eternal, yes... but stuck in time. And it's ready to move on.

Last rumors reported that Italy's largest bank UniCredit may bring its own headquarters in one of the three skyscrapers designed by Daniel Libeskind.

The article says "Unicredit wants to transfer its head office in one of the two towers that will rise next to the new stadium of Rome."
It was written when the project involved only two towers, instead of three.
