The European Energy Award gave the “2000 Watts area” label to the future Malley-Gare district. The urban project covers 16,000 sqm and runs over Prilly and Renens. The neighbourhood plan has been put out to public inquiry at the beginning of 2015. The Malley-Gare site should host 3200 inhabitants/job positions by 2020. This is the first piece in the vast urbanization process of Malley’s wasteland.

The Municipalities of Prilly and Renens are placing the first puzzle pieces of the Prilly-Malley project

The Malley-Gare neighborhood plan, the first step in the transformation of the wasteland, will be submitted to both municipal councils. Each municipality will achieve a high-rise building.

After over 10 years of planning, the project becomes concrete. The first of four neighborhood plans for the area, namely Malley-Gare, will be subject to legislative approval by the Municipalities of Prilly and Renens. After the construction of the Prilly-Malley railway station in 2012, this is another important step of the colossal changes that are awaited for this area.

This first phase concerns a 16,000 m2 plot, leaning against the south side of the railway station. Specifically, the plot plan includes the construction of two high-rise buildings and two public squares. It also takes into account the creation of Malley Avenue. Finally, the municipal boundaries of Prilly and Renens will be moved for enhanced consistency without any loss of territory.

“The towers will be up to 63 meters and 77 meters tall, respectively in Renens and Prilly. It’s also possible to make them smaller, whatever the architectural proposals are coming forward. The competition is to be launched later this year. The plot plan should be completed by 2022.”

In Renens and Prilly, political parties feel comfortable with highrise buildings

The Malley-Gare neighborhood plan arouses political support with some reservations. A referendum could open a public debate.

This weekend, the citizens of Prilly will vote on the approval of the local neighbourhood-plan Malley-Gare.

Thanks to your positive thoughts, the project will be approved by the majority of the citizens. In case of refusal, 10 years of planning will have been done in vain.

This project won't work out in the city's favour.

Malley’s next three towers are under way

After the vote on Sunday, the authorities of Prilly are already working on the following neighbourhood plans with the hope of avoiding another referendum.

Dingue? Ravi de savoir que Lausanne provoque autant d’enthousiasme! Est-ce que la ville lémanique bénéfice d’une aura particulière dans votre région? Et si oui (ou non), pour quelle raison?

Next-Step: Malley-Viaduc

The result of the architectural competition for the Malley-Gare local neighbourhood will be revealed next year. The public inquiry for the two next highrises will start soon.

Public inquiry for the last highrise (Malley-Gazomètre: 55 m) should start in 2018-2019.
