Since March this year there are 80 new buses on Pitesti streets...

You can see them on their website at...

http://www.publitrans2000.ro/

This is a great investment of local authorities ..and although there are so many other things which can be done ..this is an important step in improving the Pitesti public transport ..

A digital map of Pitesti(zoom in by clicking on it)...

http://www.publitrans2000.ro/index.p...ent=harta_oras

and this is their bus network..

And the newest buses models, as Mercedes-Benz Citaro, Irisbuz Citelis and Volvo 7700? They are easy to find in Romania?

We now have
-500 Citaro I buses
-More than 100 Citaro II buses (out of a second order of 500 due for March 2009)
-150 Irisbus Citelis trolleybuses
-We're planning to buy 100 new Alstom or Bombardier trams

The Bucharest Metro has 44 Bombardier Movia trainsets.

You can find more info here:
Transport in Bucharest (Wikipedia) - not really up to date
Bucharest to Spend More Than $1B on Subway (SSC)
EE public transport news (SSC) - info on transport in many East European cities

We don't have Volvo 7700; those are operated by BKV in Budapest.

Yeah, that's the second order of 500. After this second order is honored we'll have 1,000 Citaros and RATB will be the biggest Citaro operator in the world (or so they say).

Well, mainly the looks, cause most of the stuff you can equip a Citaro II you can also equip a Citaro I with. I don't know about the engines though...

In Bucharest, RATB's Citaro II have AC, an LCD screen, surveillance cameras and a bit better seats.

Timișoara presents modernised trams
14 Jul 2015

ROMANIA: Two modernised trams for Timișoara were presented to the public on July 8 to coincide with the city’s annual Urban Transport Day.

A consortium of Electroputere VFU Pașcani and Astra Vagoane Călători Arad won a €144m contract last year to refurbish up to 30 trams over four years. Work on the first two ex-Bremen Wegmann GT4 vehicles started in June 2014, and they will now undergo test running at night on the standard gauge network.

The two-section unidirectional trams are 1838 m long, 2 310 mm wide and 37 m high. They have 29 seats and capacity for 135 standees at 6/m2. Four sets of 1 200 mm wide double doors include one set with a wheelchair ramp

Cluj-Napoca also recently started using purple.

The trendsetters were the Pesa Swing trams:

Followd by 40 Solaris articulated buses, from earlier this year:

And 10 Iveco Urbanway buses, from this month:

Also, the city has a relatively large trolleybus network, most of the trolleys are Iveco Irisbus, assembled in Romania (Astra Bus Arad)

Iași completes tram line modernisation
18 Sep 2015

ROMANIA: The latest section of the Iași tram network to be modernised reopened on September 1. Trams on the 10 km east-west route between Pasaj Nicolina and Tătărași Sud can now run at up to 35 km/h, up from 25 km/h previously. The upgrade work cost €10m.

On October 1 the 82 km Podul Roș – Combinatul de Utilaj Greu route is due to reopen following a €20m modernisation. The line has been closed since 1997. South Axa has installed new electrification masts, catenary and tracks, and road infrastructure has also been modernised
