EBRD loan to fund Cluj-Napoca tram purchase
19 Apr 2016

ROMANIA: Cluj-Napoca Mayor Emil Boc announced on April 18 that city transport authority CTP is to receive a €20m ERBD loan towards the purchase of five to seven trams and 50 buses.

The loan is to be disbursed in mid-June and would be paid back over 10 years using proceeds from a special 6·65% tax established in 2013 on every ticket sold by CTP

Zdecydowaną większość taboru tramwajowego w tym mieście stanowią jednak stare tramwaje.

Timisoara allocated funding for a preFS for a metro line stretching from the center to the airport. The line will be 8 km in lenght. This would be the second city in Romania with a metro line.

There is no need for a metro system în Timișoara now. Timișoara has a population around 320.000, a metro system is only needed in a city with 1 milion ore more citizens.
A fast tram line would be much more justitified, a underground fast tram. It's more justified.

I hope this is the right place to post this, as I cannot find a thread dedicated to Arad.
As some of you may know, I am compiling lists of Tram Depots in Europe, and I am now looking at Arad. I think I've found 3, but I don't know their names. They are...
1) PIATA U.T.A.(?) - on the south side of STRADA COCORILOR,
2) I don't know what its name is, but it is just north of the CALEA RADNEI bridge,
3) GHIOROC - on the north side of the line, west of Ghioroc. This depot looks closed.
Have I got his right?

Yes. The first Depot is calld UTA AFAIK.
I do not know the name of the second, even though I pass it via train when I visit (I live 60 km South).

The Ghioroc one is closed since the number of trams (these are inter-urban rather than local trams) is very low, around 12-14 per day!
