First Chinese ground-power LRV for Zhuhai commissioned
Thursday, July 30, 2015

THE first of 10 ground-power LRVs being built by CRRC Dalian for the first light rail line in Zhuhai has been commissioned

The 8.9km line, which connects Shangzhong with Haitian Park, is entirely catenary free due to the prevalence of typhoons.

CNR Dalian signed a 10-year licensing agreement in 2012 with AnsaldoBreda, Italy, for the production of Sirio LRVs in China, while Ansaldo STS signed a similar agreement with CNR Dalian and General Resources Company for its TramWave ground-power supply system. Trial operation started in November 2014 with the first two Sirio LRVs on a 1.7km section

Zhuhai also has four metro lines planned. I'm trying to figure out if any of these lines will connect to Zhongshan, as I found a map which shows a line from there running to Shunde in Foshan and thus connecting Zhongshan to the giant Pearl River Delta metro system. If the Zhuhai-Zhongshan link is indeed planned, it would add not only Zhuhai, but also Macau to that system.

Exactly is there any chance you could post up those maps on this thread?

If indeed there is a link between ZhuHai Metro and Zhong Shan Metro and FoShan Metro Line 3 then indeed it would connect to the Greater Pearl River Delta assuming Dong Guan's R2 line is connected to Shen Zhen and Guangzhou at both ends.

Can anyone confirm that FoShan Metro Line 3 is U/C?

Does Haitian Garden contain plant species native to Haiti?

Or is "Haitian" a Chinese name that wasn't translated?

Same happens with Haitian Sanlu in Shanghai, it has nothing to do with Haiti.

We are ending April and Zhuhai tram is still not open. That only happens when you deal with AnsaldoBreda (which IIRC is fortunately gone).

does anyone have any idea why metro development is lagging behind on the westen side of the PRD compared to the eastern side?

On the western side the cities are not that big and they most likely did not meet the previous state council requirement for metro.

The big three on the western side 2010 population

Zhongshan - 3,120,884 (all the towns)

Jiangmen -1,822,640 (three core districts only)

Zhuhai - 1,560,229 (all three districts)

Zhuhai (Baiteng/Hongqi/Sanzao) to Zhuhai (Gongbei) approx. 22 km
Zhuhai (Gongbei) to Zhongshan (Shiqi) approx. 40 km

Zhuhai (Gongbei) to Zhuhai (Tangjiawan)/Zhongshan (Sanxiang) approx. 20 km
Zhuhai (Tangjiawan)/Zhongshan (Sanxiang) to Zhongshan (Shiqi) approx. 22 km

Zhongshan (Shiqi) to Jiangmen (Gongbei) approx. 25km

Jiangmen (Pengjiang/Jianghai)/Zhongshan (Shiqi) to Shunde approx 25 km

Zhongshan is basically a bunch of towns stitched together the southern towns are closer to Zhuhai and with couple northwestern towns closer to Jiangmen/Shunde

also they are not as built-up in between as the eastern and northern PRD

There are actually rumblings that Zhongshan should be served by an extension of one of Guangzhou's express metro lines.
