Good to see that the track improvement is coming along. If I get the pictures right and if my impression from my last ride on the line shortly before your March update holds, Simeonovgrad Station is one of the last places where major construction is still underway.
Also this was posted elsewhere:
"On March 09. 2016 high-speed train passed along the new railway line on the railway section Simeonovgrad – Harmanli through the stations in Harmanli, Lyubimets and Svilengrad to the Greek border (LOT 2 of the project for reconstruction and electrification of the railway line Parvomai – Svilengrad). The maximum speed during the tests was 184 km/hour. The tests on the new track and catenary passed with no problems in the presence of local authorities and were covered by the local regional media.

And good going on the Plovdiv-Septemvri Line. When I passed through works seemed very intense, so hopefully there will be no long delays like with Plovdiv-Svilengrad. Do you know when Plovdiv-Septemvri is planned to finish? And when Septemvri-Sofia will start? That section as I remember will take much longer to construct, as it is mountain territory.

For Plovdiv-Septemvri it was supposed to be ready in the end of 2015. I don't know the exact date, but it should be quite soon, the money spend for the section was 315 mil euro. About the new project Sofia-Septemvri, what I know from the news, is that the construction will start this year, but unfortunately the speed will probably be reduced to max 160km/h because of the terrain. This section will cost 816 million euro. There will be 13 tunnels (the longest will be 6500 meters.) and 25 viaducts and bridges. Also the government is considering to spend 300 mil euro for the purchase of new trains after few years. If I learn something new I will write.

Here you can see the location of the long tunnel in green.

Will they finish the whole stretch before we get to see improvements in passenger timetables?

Vectron for the private Bulgarian PIMK rail on its way

About the passengers trains, as I already said the gov is considering to buy new trains because the current can't reach more than 130km/h , but when will happen I can't say for sure. The line become single track on south because it will mainly serve the freighters from (Turkey) Asia.

Bulgaria Completes Overhaul of Railway to Border with Greece, Turkey

Under a project using EU funding, several sections of the railway have been fully overhauled to meet present-day standards, with Moskovski and Prime Minister Boyko Borisov taking a ride from the southern Bulgarian town of Lyubimets (whose train station has also been upgraded) to the border town of Svilengrad, located immediately next to the point where the borders of Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece meet.

The Transport Ministry earlier said the railroad modernization project between Plovdiv and Svilengrad had cost BGN 424 M and had been carried out under Operation Program Transport for the 2007-2013 period. Railway infrastructure will now have to be improved between the capital Sofia and the border with Serbia, Moskovski added.

Also something interesting, excavator found two buildings under the tracks at this train station. Seems that they are more than 150 years old, because the railway of Baron Hirsch is opened in 1873, and they didn't collapsed even when heavy trains passed over them for more than a century.
