Will the lines to Bergamo be part of a railway line in the direction of Bursa and Istanbul?

What's are timelines to extend Izban to Bergamo and Selcuk?

Are there plas to extend the line to Kusadasi, famous tourist city near Selcuk?

Firstly, It's not Bergamo, Bergama.

1-Yes, Bergama is a part of İzmir-Bursa-İstanbul high-speed rail project. There will be a train station for this high-speed rail line in Bergama.

2-IZBAN(Izmir Suburban Train System) is now extending to Selçuk. There are some constructions on that way and I guess it will be opened in a few years. Actually, IZBAN is a project which aims to connect two touristic cities Selçuk and Bergama. Lastly, after Selçuk, IZBAN is going to extend to Bergama.

But no way for Kuşadası, it's just a project inside city of İzmir.

How does "through-running" work? Wouldn't they have to reverse at Alsancak?

I think article says it will by-pass Alsancak, but so far all trains still go there.

Anyways, some updates:

Karşıyaka (North) Tram line (9.7 km). This one will probably be complete by the end of this summer, and open by mid-to-late autumn.

Konak (South) Tram line (12.6 km). This one's route goes through the heart of the city, so it will be complete later. Currently about 2/5 of tracks are complete.

Testing for grass between tracks.

Some renders. This place is Halkapınar, the old industrial area, now designated for future highrise development. So while it looks empty now, this line will be much needed in the future.

The depot in Halkapınar.

And now some news and updates on Metro.

Izmir Metro is preparing to increase its frequency to 90 seconds in 18 months. Down from 5 minutes currently.

Quote:
Seferler 18 ay sürecek yazılım, donanım ve test ataşaması sonrasında 90 saniyeye düşecek. İZBAN’da ise TCDD’nin hat seferleri nedeniyle sefer sıklığı henüz 10 dakikanın bile altına düşmedi.

İzmir’de raylı sistem taşımacılığı, metro, banliyö hattı ve yeni güzergahlarla ilgili projeler yapımı devam eden tramvaylar, toplu ulaşımın belkemiği olacak. Özellikle aktarmalı ulaşımla birlikte her geçen gün artan yolculuk talebi raylı sistemde yeni atılımlara neden oldu.

On going production of 95 metro wagons (19 sets) in China by CSR. First delivery will be in mid-2017

Izban. (Surburban/commuter rail)

New 14 km tunnel to be built to ease the congestion.

Though the article says 14 km, the line shown on the map is hardly 2 km. So I'm confused about this.

Some parts have been opened and began to operate this winter. Some are still U/C.

And finally, the buses.

The municipality has bought 20 electric buses this month from TCV Otomotiv. They are planning on buying 400 more in 3 years.

Quote:
İzmir’in elektrikli otobüs ihalesi tamam !

Türkiye'nin ilk elektrikli otobüs filosunu kurmak için çalışmalarını kararlılıkla sürdüren ESHOT Genel Müdürlüğü, daha önce iki kez iptal edilen 20 adet “full elektrikli otobüs” ihalesini sonuçlandırdı. İhaleyi 8.8 milyon Euro'luk teklifle Ankara'da üretim yapan TCV Otomotiv Makine San. ve Tic. A.Ş.'nin kazandığı açıklandı. İzmir Büyükşehir Belediyesi, 3 yıl içinde kente 400 elektrikli otobüs kazandırmayı hedefliyor.
http://www.izmir.bel.tr/HaberDetay/19556/tr

Also, the city has purchased 100 more long-haul buses this year from Otokar. (non-electric)

And some buses have been installed with this bike-carriers to encourage bike ridership.
