Palazzo della Ragione, Milan, Italy
Architect: Vincenzo Seregni --- Construction Year: 1228

Palazzo della Ragione (previously known as Broletto Nuovo) was the location in which the municipal authorities conducted their activities up until the 18th century.

Constructed in Mediaeval style, it has a rectangular floor plan, with a double portico on the open ground floor which thus forms a large covered but open-air area. At the time of the Visconti rulers, this area was used for trade, both for buying and selling merchandise, and for professional services such as notaries and intermediaries. Today, Palazzo della Ragione is used for photography exhibitions.

On a pilaster of Palazzo della Ragione facing Via Mercanti, there is a bas-relief of the a wild boar with long hair on the forward part of its back. On the other side of the building, Piazza dei Mercanti, there is an equestrian high-relief which depicts a ruler of the city during the period of the Comuni.

Ca' Granda, Milan, Italy
Architect: Filarete --- Construction Year: 1456-1805

Cà Granda is the name once used by the Milanese people to describe the huge Ospedale Maggiore complex. Today the building hosts the Statal University of Milan. Founded on 12 April, 1456 by the Duke of Milan Francesco Sforza and his wife Bianca Maria, the gigantic complex was built to provide medical care for the city's poorest people, reorganising and concentrating patients from the city’s various institutions in a single building.

The project was entrusted to the Tuscan architect Antonio Averlino, known as Filarete, who described it in detail in his Trattato di Architettura (Treatise on Architecture) as an integral part of Sforzinda, the ideal city of largely Renaissance inspiration dedicated to Francesco Sforza. Filarete's project was funded by legacies, donations and citizens' contributions paid on the occasion of the Festa del Perdono (Feast of Forgiveness), a special city jubilee celebrated on 25 March of every odd-numbered year with a generous dispensation of indulgences.

The construction of Cà Granda continued until the early years of the 19th century and, while adhering to Filarete's original plan, was enhanced by various additional architectural elements.

old industrial town Weißwasser, Lausitz, Deutschland

the old water tower, the symbol building of the city:

this one is special because there is the even older brick water tower still inside!

at night with the empty fountain in front of it:

surrounded by crap, some city villas and the local indoor swimming pool.

one of the remaining glass factory buildings (Weißwasser was europes, maybe worlds biggest glass producer before the world wars with the peak of 11 different glass factories at the same time):

the public library:

the train station:

the Neufert building, a storage building, one of architect Neuferts early buildings while he was creating his famous book (most famous buidlings by Neufert: Dortmunder U):

the community center building:

chapel at the cemetary:

the registry office building:

the health insurance building:

the tower restaurant next to the station:

some residential buildings:

and of course the both main churches are also made out of bricks:
