Ouch. A dog's breakfast. What happened to grace, elegance, or even consistency or human scale? Just a mish mash of styles.

At least it's not in Paris.

So, with this, we can consider Thom Mayne's design for Tour Phare cancelled, according to the article.

Visually, I find this redesign somewhat reminiscent of the also-cancelled design for Tour Hermitage in Puteaux.

I like the towers, but that name... The location doesn't like me much either.

I like it. Unique and tastefully done and it also looks very modern, far more than the other render shown here. The old render looks very 1980's but this looks more like the 2050's, and it fits great in that location. I hope it gets built.

Oh, I see what I did. I mixed up the old Hermitage design with all the Tour Signal designs. Thought it had been one of those, but no. Right. Thanks.

Was the old Hermitage design also by Christian de Portzamparc?

At any rate, I look forward to following the development of this new design.

Mister Portzamparc clearly just slapped together some shapes he is used to work and in 2 days of work, this was the final product.
The sketch was probably made while he was having a Temaki, as you see the resemblance of it with the tallest tower.

I don't think it's that bad. Ok, I mourn Phare (and the other supertall proposals) as much as everybody here, but I think this project can turn out rather nice. I actually like the base. Though my biggest problem I have with the design are those square boxes at the top, and the flat facades. Why is that, when the whole design consists of curved lines?! It looks unfinished.

the tallest tower should be 225m, and the small one 130m

It reminds me another building in La Défense that has the same curved detail from the bottom to the top..: The EDF tower.

Apart from the weird top, these are pretty cool buildings.

i like it a lot more than Phare, designwise that is, losing the height of a near supertall is of course a different story
