Al Barari, which will be the first eco-friendly sustainable mixed-use development of its kind in the Middle East, will be in Dubailand -- Extending over 14.6 million square feet, Al Barari will be an oasis. It will feature 16 lush green segments, boasting most types of flora from all over the world, company officials said. One of the attractions - Al Aman - will be a six-star, 120-suite, deluxe boutique hotel hidden in the midst of green gardens and azure lakes.

Legends theme park which some thought was never gona go through, is through alright. The Kuwait Finance & Investment Company (KFIC ) has subscribed to 20 per cent of the $302 million private placement for the development of the first phase of the $3.8 billion Legends theme park project in Dubailand. Over 80 per cent of the private placement has been picked up by institutional and individual investors.

Dubailand will rock! and will make Disney world look

I like the fact that Dubai is competing with itself, provides better quality and in this case or many cases, a larger final product.

This article is calling it "City" of arabia instead of GULF of arabia

Mall of Arabia

The Ilyas and Mustafa Galadari Group has announced the launch of a Dh4 billion ($1.08 billion) development in the heart of Dubailand called City of Arabia. The project, work on which has already begun, will include four components – Restless Planet, Mall of Arabia, Wadi Walk and Elite Towers.

• Restless Planet is a unique electronic media and natural history experience where visitors will be led into the prehistoric world where they can experience the power of cosmic forces that helped shape our planet, and come face to face with giant dinosaurs. Themed by the Natural History Museum, London, the Dh600 million ($163.3 million) museum was conceptualised by an international team of experts.

• Mall of Arabia, the second component of the project, is a unique lifestyle experience with its vast ancient Middle Eastern exterior that will house the best of international fashion brands, a state-of-the-art stage for theatrical performances, leisure and entertainment facilities and a world-class spa.

• Offering an exclusive urban community, Wadi Walk blends timeless Mediterranean architecture into ultra-modern Dubai and reflects a vibrant atmosphere of retail shops and outdoor cafes.

• The fourth component – the Elite Towers – promises exceptional views of the City of Arabia and the Dubai skyline and provides a dynamic visual backdrop to an elegant urban centre.

All these components will be linked by a monorail and flowing waterways, which will set the standard for tourism, leisure and urban living in the region. The project is expected to complete by 2008.

45 million sq. ft is a lot, this thing will be huge. Given this figure, am not sure how big the mall will be, but it can easily be bigger than Dubai Mall.

45 million square feet, from the looks of the article, seems to be the entire Mall of Arabia complex, and I don't really know what that entails, but it appears to be more than just the mall. The Dubai Mall is 9 million square feet I believe, which is a feat in itself, considering the WTC twin towers were 10 million square feet with two huge towers of 110 stories each. So both the Mall of Arabia and Dubai Mall promise to be gargantuan in size and scope.

Hi guys,

Here's some info on the Mall of Arabia...

Its not really 45 mil sq. ft, its 20 m

Its going to have themed areas, like the pharoahs and china etc...

its going tohave its own monorail stops inside...

the water taxis of the Wadi Walk will be able to transport people INTO the mall...yes the river goes into it...

there will be a direct connection to the RestlessPlanet Dome...
