Comments about Korean cities...
I noticed that Korean cities are very, very well organized. However, it seems the buildings have no character. Well that's just my opinion.

![]() Apartment clones were built in order to reduce costs, and i think it played a major role in modernizing seoul since the 60's. So cant blame them. ![]() But nowdays, buildings are getting more interesting designs. If you want to see more modern and unique projects goto the construction and updates section on the Korean forums, youll surely be impressed

Yeah that's true about much of the older architecture being bland and cookie cutter. The apartment buildings shown in this shot are everywhere. There must be thousands and thousands of them. Heck, I live in one, on the 4th floor. They are identical inside and outside. Notice the numbers on the outside (actually quite a handy feature, makes giving directions a a lot easier. Maybe they're onto something?).

^ they still build many clones, like the sharp star city which has about 4 or 5 towers (?) which are identical but have different heights, but ture, its getting much better than before

these photos bring a whole new meaning to the word "suburb"
nothing like the place i live. just outside of toronto. Takes me a freaking hour and thirty min to commute by public transit! Toronto really needs some new subway lines... BTW, Ansan was listed the fastest growing city in the world in 2005. The percentage of growth is 9 from the year 2000. |

sometimes people forget that how POOR korea was only 25-30 yrs ago when those ugly commie blocks were built - to remind u, at that time it was their first priority to build as many apartment complexes possible at a cheap price. it's funny only 25-30 yrs later, korea's rich and mature enough to consider other aspects of the city once was completely destroyed by the korean war / japanese occupation. seoul is on the right track. and thank god we have mayor LEE who's helping seoul look more beautiful everyday.

Metro Seoul Size
Guys, when I went to Seoul last week I was amazed by its size. It was surprising to note, however, that it was not as clean as I thought it was.
Roads and Expressways Downtown Seoul had pretty large avenues. When compared with Tokyo, Seoul had wider roads and more modern expressways. The Han River A clear feature of the metropolis is the Han River. This river literally divides Seoul into two distint parts (New and Old). Everland Resort This has got to be the largest themepark that I've ever been. We went there on a Wednesday, hoping that it would be less crowded. To our desmay, it was extremely crowded because it was picnic day for most schools in Seoul. One can just imagine how crowded it would be during the weekends. The Skyline I was not really impressed with Seoul's skyline. Hell...Tokyo's skyline was even better. Its tallest building was a mere 200+ M and it was not architecturally aesthetic enough (and the Golden Glass Panels... ). One Thing To Note Though it wasn't all that I'd expected it to be from the pictures shown here in the forums, it is good to note that Seoul is larger than the pictures suggest it is. I mean, it took us an hour for our bus just to get out of the city (and we were still within its Metro Area). OMG!

I visited Seoul two years ago and have some downtown pictures taken. With these pictures, I used GoogleEarth to identify the locations. Can anyone of you verify my findings?
