Where exactly is it on the map and how far from the Bund?

Is it far from the South Railway Station?

I realize the english names are translations of chinese terms that might have different connotations for them, but where's the beach in this "front beach center"?

Yes, that's true, I took the thread's title from google translator, "Front Beach" is that area of the city, the name in chinese is 前滩, that sometimes google translates as foreshore.
I've just checked, and the project is now in the architect's website in English, with the name Qiantan Tower: http://www.kpf.com/projects/location...qiantan-center. Qiantan (Qián tān) is the pinyin (phonetical writting chinese) for Front Beach / Foreshore.

Building looks great and also the area is one with lot of potential, is this the new focus area for Shanghai skyscraper development? Someone know where to find more about the complete district development plans?

http://www.cnlid.net/nw-show-id-46.html

And right across the river:
http://www.globaltimes.cn/content/725602.shtml

http://www.bdcnetwork.com/first-look...ai-dreamcenter
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1516038
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...160&highlight=

and a bit to the north:
http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=1516045

That makes a total of 5 or 6 +200m towers in that area. 280m the two tallest.

There's a lot of construction everywhere in the city, except in the very center, unfortunately, most of it is under 100 metres.

Well the very Center is like the older Shanghai so it's better if there are only low-rise because the very Center is surrounded by a lot of big towers. There should be much more skyscrapers in a specific place (like lujiazui for example) than everywhere in the city, 'cause In my opinion the financial district of Pudong is too wide and it doesn't have narrow streets or a lot of skyscrapers actually. I think that there should be more towers in that place

I think this is the main tower, and it seems to be near reaching ground level, but I'm not sure:
