Should have worked better if the small structure were at the centre of the Grossmarkthalle.

They certainly need to hurry up. If not could Bundesbank always be the tenant

yeah, no work during public holidays (until tuesday).

what's interesting though, you can see where they intend to demolish parts of the market hall for the new entrance building.

Still find it ugly as sin... it may be saved by its cladding, although it would need a very outstanding one to "cover" this awfull shape...
i find it bare and oppressive, the ECB should feel well at home in there

Just Read in the DAF that the tower will be definitely taller than 187m

with the spire/antenna it will be 220m tall.

good update. the hole in the facade of the market hall is quite impressive. on the other side of the hall the construction pit is getting deeper. you can already see the piling, which was done months ago before the construction stop due to re-planning.

If it's a spire we can move it to the skyscrapers section..

on the renderings it looks like a spire, but I'm afraid it's an antenna. atleast that's what ecb press releases say.

Nice building, but built on a wrong location. It should be built in the CBD, not on the other side of the historical center.

time for an update. a lot has happened since the last one. it seems most construction workers had a breakfast break or something. there were only around 40 people doing something, while tens of construction workers were sitting at the edge of the site and enjoying the sunshine...

first the overview

see through the old market hall (future site of the entrance building cutting through the hall)

machines 'n stuff

coming closer

the pit is accessable via a ramp

the hole is very impressive. bit of a shame they're going to close it with the entrance building

second crane coming up soon

you can see inside the hall

nice update.

According to FNP, concrete works for the tower foundations have started. Foundation works should be finsihed by october. From then on we should see the tower rising.

In the aftermath of the credit crisis, you may call it symbolic to build this tower between the ruins.

Regardless, I am in favor of conservation of the old industrial monuments. They look a lot better than plain glass IMO.
