Time for a little Update (pics of 3/26/2011), first of all i'd like to show a panoramic overview of this huge construction site, seen from a railway bridge:

Pic by me, for a bigger version please click on the picture

After a long time the NorthTower starts to rise, interesting the construction method, one can clearly see the skewness of some of the columns.
It's amazing to see such a tower with it's cracy form to be born

narrow side of the NorthTower

Another detail Panorama, for a bigger version also click on the picture, please...

All pics and Panos by me

Wow, so many cranes on the sites. Thats not something you see very often.

Really? I thought it would be not that uncommon. In Vienna I would know two sites where about as many or more cranes are located and I don't think that Vienna is such a leading city in the construction business. That said, these are all big construction sites to be sure.

well, it depends on the project. some projects cover a huge area, some are limited to a very small site. the squaire project in frankfurt had 16(?) cranes, because the scale was huge. skyscrapers usually have small foot prints and there is no need for tons of cranes. the ecb project is a mixture of both - huge lowrise elements and the towers. it is certainly not normal to have many cranes on a skyscraper construction site (if there is not a huge lowrise element attachted to it).

Typical sites with massive number of cranes are airport constructions. Low, large and need to be built fast.

I hope the glass will be transparent enough to see the spectacular atrium from outside.

what is it on top of the building? is it a spire or an antenna?

Unfortunately that's just an antenna.

hier erkennt man ganz gut, dass es zwei richtig separate trme sind. in den renderings sah das ganze immer sehr verwachsen aus.
