greater risk, yes. but not for the tenderers, for the ecb. and i guess the ecb could live with some delays, since there are no tenants (but the ecb itself) and no death lines to meet.

there is an interview about the building, that will propably answer some of your questions, its google translated from german to english:

Who are the construction managers then?

Good link with lots of info but who exactly are co-ordinating and managing the works?

I think the risks, and costs, are apparent due to the fact that they have already sacked the structural contractor and brought in someone else, 1 down and 11 to go?

Wow, this project made massive progress in the two months I was gone. Last time I checked this thread it was barely above ground, now it's already several stories high. I love it.

If it's a spire (and not an antenna) and reaching up to 217 meters it should be moved to Skyscrapers ihmo.

If I compare the speed of construction of this project with the DC Donau Tower at Vienna, which started almost at the same time from the ground, this project proceeds very very slowly and not understandable for me why the process doesn`t go faster. Do they have expanded summer holiday at Frankfurt?

I didn't know it was a competition or that you could compare two buildings like that. Anyway isn't DC tower scheduled to open beginning 2013 and the ECB HQ should finish construction year-end 2013? Perhaps could that have an impact on the pace?

Edit:Thanks newfvgffm for the update

And in addition, you can bet the ECB site is a slightly more complex construction.
Talking about safety, the including of the Gro▀markthalle, etc.pp.

It's always easy to say this, when you have no clue.
I don't know about the DC Tower, but the ECB Tower an the whole construction is very complicated.
Just take a look at the "Grossmarkthalle" which is going to be integrated in the tower.
