from this perspective it is a truly remarkable structure. I can't think of any other recent european highrise project, that is so incredibly complex. and the best is yet to come.

yes i agree. in another forum i was informed that the mentioned connecting platform on top is in fact not a connecting platform. It's going to be the main conference Area of the ECB Counsil. Below the iron steel bars the main conference area will be ankered and sits partially above the atrium. amazing.

Unfortunately the antenna will be a big dissapointment. It's currently being constructed and will be very ugly. A Shame to top a building like this with such upcoming shi.... .

you can tell by experience. can you think of a single antenna on a german building, that doesnt look like a pile of shit? excuse my language.

they screwed up the building anyway by not chosing a transparent glass for the atrium.
either the architects suddenly thought it was a great idea or they ran out of money for a different glass type, after spending a fortune on that building anyway. i cant decide which option is more sad.

well, rumors (well, more then rumors, but i cannot say more) say that they chose the ugly mast antenna instead of the spiral antenna. The allowed height for the site by the city government is 185m, with the spiral the final height would have been 217m and that is undoubtfully more than allowed. also the costs for the antenna have been a major concern for that decision rumors say. In my opinion 1 million more or less is at the end with these exploded building costs no thing...

We wil have to wai until the end of the year when the antenna or spiral is connected to the towers.

and i agree totally that the glass for the atrium is really shitty. Transparency is not welcome at the ECB, in many ways obviously.

If the height to tip is 217m, then where does the 220m figure on the topic thread originate from? Just curious is all.

in some ecb documents u can read 217m, in some others for example of structural enginering companies u read 220m total height including mast antenna or the spiral antenna.

some overview pictures of the top of the 2 towers, their upper connections, the area of the future conference section on top of the south tower. At the moment a lot of steel is being transported up to the top of the south tower, hopefully the north tower will follow soon:

all pics by me.

What a sensationalist bull****!! XD

They sell the building as some super expensive Burj Khalifa to the uninformed viewer and claim it would be Frankfurt's tallest... Among other european skyscrapers (if it can even be considered one) this one is actually pretty modest.

What else were you expecting from Russia Today? The channel was established solely for the purpose of feeding people the "Russia strong!!!" bullshit. All they do is twist/create facts, interview some supposedly influential people (scum) to legitimize those "facts", which they then puke onto the world with their fake British accents.

not pricewise. actually its roughly as expensive as the burj kalifa.
however, its way overprized for what it turns out to be. typical public sector architecture.
every private sector enterprise would laugh about it.

German constructionworkers probably make 10 times more as Indian and Pakistani workers in Dubai.

How much is the ECB complex and how much was the Burj Kalifa (inflation corrected of course)? In total and per usable space.
