The worst thing YOU can say about this tower is that it's not being built in London.

frankfurt, the financial centre of europe's biggest economy deserves to have supertalls like one world trade centre or shanghai financial centre.

but not this chunky, fatty fatty boom boom looking tower.

Oh, now I detected it
That ridiculously looking antenna is truly being added to the structural height? The official height of this building should be 185 m and apart from this thread here it seems to be that way..

i have never been a fan of this tower since i heard about it, but the shape of walkie talkie tower in london is even worse than this one although it has much nicer cladding.

Never been a fan? The quoted statement of yours sounds different
And what's the problem with this tower's cladding? I always thought these shiny glassy claddings were your favourite ones..

cladding is nice bro, it is indeed my type. i personally find it much better than stone cladding that messeturm or japan centre towers have. but i was just saying walkie talkie;s cladding is nicer although they both have chunky shape like potato this building is very important not only for frankfurt/germany but the rest of eurozone members. they should build something taller, more expensive and iconic that represents the power of eurozone.

beautiful shots ...

very dissapointing to see this ugly piece of trash being installed on top, the spire from the renders gave this building a much better impact.

so....supertall means superrich? why? a country can be quite rich and important without having some milehigh towers. traditionally european cities are ot really skyscraperfriendly

You do realize that this is actually one of the most expensive skyscrapers ever built with a price tag of €1.4 billion ($1.8 billion).

That's twice the price tag of the Shard in London!

Does anyone know what will be the next major project in FFM once ECB and Taunusturm are finished?

Actually, I am not a fan of the new ECB tower either. However, it looks ok from Frankfurt's most prominent places - I think this is important since most visitors won't get to see this tower from other angles.

Cities need a good mix of stone and glass towers, IMO.

I will never understand the love for glass, sure some Asian and American highrises look pretty cool but many others are just ugly.
For instance, the Shard's renderings really looked nice and it looks ok during the night but the cladding looks rather poor during the day. I was really disappointed when I checked it out a few weeks ago in person, the overall shape is nice though. Actually, I prefer the Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco. However, the Shard is still better than most of the new towers in Moscow and Paris.

Btw, Messeturm is Europe's best tower by far (IMHO) - always reminds me of those skyscrapers in Philadelphia and Atlanta.

And that scares me. Not that big fan of this one it looks ok, but twice the price !!! Just imagine what you could have received for that money and that is a shame.

We could build a nice city of 100,000 with that money here in Mexico. Germans must be overpaid...
