I am curious how the bridge will be accessed from the eastern side, as it is in the middle of a road, after all. If they end up developing the area over the tracks north of the station--with something good--this will be one of the place-making spots of the city.

More photos:

It seems that they've done most of the construction now. The opening date has been pushed back a month to May 2017 (according to SMG's facebook page at least). I really like the project, but I still have my doubts about how the plants will be integrated into the bridge (I fear it will be too much concrete). We'll see. At this point this is just speculation.

thanks for the update!

One thing is for sure: the walkway will give great and unique perspectives to pedestrians and photographers.

And I love the relatively low and transparent glass walls (instead of the quite commonly used ugly steel grid fences)

fun fact: in the building on the left (last pic) there's the Seoul branch office of my company.
if i'm lucky i might end up there in a year or two

Yes those transparent glass wall is good design. But I bit worry for safety reason. cause there are suicide accident in there. So imo they should extend wall height little bit more to prevent people cross over.

Are you work in Left building? So u work in n~~~ company. I had been two time swallow your company product. very expensive though.

This project only one achievement by now seoul mayor.
I admit it. This project only great and deserved for seoul.
I can do better management seoul city's develop policy than this seoul mayor.
Now Seoulites understand that now mayor worst ever. So now days his approval rating bottom!
How lazy he was!!! What can we do? This is our reflection. the other side of seoul's quality.

Ohhh so this bridge is actually for pedestrians and not for vehicles... I was in Seoul last December and stayed at hotel MANU and was curious about this overhead bridge and thinking it was for cars... it looks nice when finished based on the artist impression but I wonder why it end sin the middle of the road on Toegye-ro

Photos I took 2 days ago:

The more I see this project move forward, the more I'm optimistic, but we'll have to wait until May 20th to really know.

The the walkway has direct connections to highrise buildings nearby

The opening is scheduled for May 20th.
250 kinds of plants will be planted from all over Korea (24,000 plants in total) and the plants will be planted in alphabetical order (hangul alphabet), so that the whole overpass will seem to visitors like a botanic library of Korea.
