Fort Erie Developments

Quote:
A massive, hospitality-based project could be in the offing for lands surrounding the historic Fort Erie Race Track.

The $280 million, privately-financed project just across the U.S.-Canadian border is being shepherded by Carl Paladino, the Buffalo developer who led an investment group that bought the nearly 340-acre race track property last summer. The project follows through on a development plan Paladino first envisioned when he and his partners, local businessmen Bill Mosey, Joel Castle and David Kompson, acquired the track’s real estate in August 2014.

The horse racing track is located just off of the Queen Elizabeth Way, less than two miles from the Peace Bridge.

“We’re developers and we had this in mind when we made this investment,” Paladino said.

At $280 million, the project would be the largest that Paladino has undertaken.

Paladino said the development is tied into the proposed $400 million Canadian Motor Speedway, which is targeted to open in 2017. The track is also located off of the QEW’s Bowen Road exit. The horse racing track and proposed speedway are less than one mile apart.
