LAUSANNE | Quartier Les Cèdres | 140m | 420ft | App

Here is a proposed highrise in Chavannes-près-Renens, near Lausanne (Switzerland).

This area is strategic for agglomeration development (around 2015), but the high rise is not definitely accepted.

Architect: Dahl & Richter

Would be nice if you could read the forum rules next time before creating a thread. This thread should be in the proposed highrises forum and we have a prototype for thread titles. Please checkout the announcements first.

I think it looks good! was afraid it would disturb Switzerland's beautiful mountain landscape, but it actually fits in quite well!
Hope they'll build it

Sorry… I didn't notice

Now that I have read the rules, I think there is still a mistake in the title! The project name is "Tour du Léman" and not "Les Cèdres" (which is the name of the neighborhood).

Just found this thread, and quickly stumbled upon a relevant newspaper article dating back to February of this year:
Quote:
So the local population accepted the construction project.
The article also states:

Quote:
Les premiers coups de pioche sont pour l’année prochaine. Quant à la tour, qui ne devrait pas dépasser les 117 mètres de haut, elle pourrait sortir de terre dès 2016.
So, only 117m tall and the tower will only begin to rise in 2016.

I guess this tower's schedule should change to "approved".

LAUSANNE | Les Cèdres | 117m | 39 fl | Pro

This new building shall rise a few steps away from the EPFL (Swiss Institute of Technology) and the University, in the locality of Chavannes-près-Renens (Greater Lausanne area). At the time this project was launched, the proponents planned a 140m high building. But they finally decided to restrict its height to 117m, in order to prevent a public opposition. The projet was finally approved in 2014 by 1,206 people vs. 769 negative votes.

The Municipality of Chavannes-près-Renens revealed this morning its project “Les Terrasses des Cèdres”, the flagship building of the new neighbourhood Les Cèdres. The winner of the architectural competition, the Italian Stefano Boeri, describes his project as “the living symbol of a new relationship between the urban and the natural spheres.” This design replaces the previous one.

LAUSANNE | La Tour des Cèdres | 117m | Pro

La Tour des Cèdres (The Cedar Tower) is a project for the Swiss municipality Chavannes-Près-Renens, just west of Lausanne. It will have 35 floors of apartments measuring 117 meters. As such the proposed tower is to become the tallest in Western Switzerland. Visible to the outside, 100 cedar trees will be planted on the balconies while the exterior will be draped in shrubs and plants. Offices and shops are planned at street level, while the top will have a panoramic restaurant. Completion is scheduled for 2017.

More haste, less speed. Public inquiry scheduled for 2018 and completion for 2020.
