Oh I missed this one, actually the deal was not done at the airshow but the annoucement coincides with the airshow.

IAG converts four A330s and 15 A320neo aircraft into firm orders

The Board of the International Airlines Group (IAG) has firmed up orders for 19 additional widebody and single aisle aircraft (2 A330-200s, 2 A330-300s and 15 A320neos). This latest agreement with IAG and its airlines takes their cumulative Airbus orders to a total of nearly 470 aircraft.

The two A330-200s will be assigned to Iberia and the two A330-300s will be operated by Aer Lingus. The 15 A320neos will be assigned within the group...

IAG already announced that one last week. Airbus delayed their press release, probably to make it look like it had something to do with the airshow.

And there doesn't seem to be more that will be announced during the show. Both Boeing and Airbus already released "highlight" tweets (Boeing already after day 2).

It was like the media predicted, maybe even less orders then expected with just 1 very small order from the gulf states. The new order from Vietnam and the identification of the order from India did not really make up for that.

We might have to reconsider the importance of this airshow, there doesn't seem to be much activity from outside the region. That's still more limited to the Farnborough and Paris airshows. If even Oman Air firm their MAX order 1 week before the show it signifies that it's still mainly an Emirates, Etihad & Qatar show when it comes to commercial aviation.

But I'm sure the military side did better with so many conflicts in the region.

It's the 1st order made by IAG for Aer Lingus, in other words, the 1st sign of IAGs influence on the fleet policy of Aer Lingus. Even if it was just to get the large customer discounts.

The 2 A333s will be delivered to Aer Lingus in 2016, that could also mean that IAG is just picking up newly freed up delivery slots (probably coming from from AirAsiaX). If they hadn't bought Aer Lingus they might have gone to Iberia instead. This probably means that they will also get these earlier then when they would have opted for the A350 prototypes and also with a fixed delivery date.

'Dubai Airshow 2015 Day 3: FC-31, Z-19E, An-178, Jetpack & Al-Tariq bombs' - not only Antonov planes

P.S. I'm not interested in your opinion.
BTW, the day before yesterday, Antonov company has signed an agreement with Pratt & Whitney Canada.

I missed this news from the airshow. I almost added the launch of a Arabian Long-Haul LCC in my predictions before the show, but decided not to.

It's not yet a launch, but I could see it happen quite soon.

Quote:
FlyDubai Considering Long-Haul Entry Flying Under Emirates Radar

Middle Eastern discount carrier FlyDubai said it’s evaluating plans to enter the low-cost long-haul market while avoiding a clash with Gulf heavyweight Emirates, the world’s biggest international airline.

The focus would be on the densest routes, mirroring FlyDubai’s short-haul strategy, Chief Executive Officer Ghaith Al-Ghaith said in an interview at the Dubai Air Show on Sunday. The carrier would avoid overlapping with Emirates, just as it does on 63 percent of existing services, while the state, which owns both companies, has no record of interfering in network planning, he said.

“We do look at bigger aircraft, we look at going further, but we have not yet reached the kind of understanding that we know this fits our requirement immediately or in the near future,” Al-Ghaith said, adding that Manila in the Philippines would be one possible destination.

As FlyDubai now has an all Boeing fleet this will be a 787 order for Boeing to lose.

South African bombs not Antonov bombs. You are clutching at straws seeing as they are not actually bombs are they.

Just stop flooding discussion threads with crap quality photos ( and no discussion) that clog up peoples valuable bandwidth will you. You are looking more like the minister of road propoganda in Turkmenistan all the time.

Mars chocolate bars is not an Antonov chocolate bars.

'Dubai Airshow 2015 Day 3: FC-31, Z-19E, An-178, Jetpack & Al-Tariq bombs' - it's a video review of the day 3 at Dubai Airshow 2015 (the plot about AN-178 is only part of this video).

BTW, show me an Irish aircraft.

once again:

The problem with the aircraft An-178
As reported by insiders to the number of web resources during the first flight tests of the first built Antonov prototype of a new transport aircraft An-178 (serial number 001, registration UR-EXP) revealed a serious problem with the alignment machine, caused significant errors in the design. As a result, to ensure proper alignment the aircraft has to perform all the long test and ferry flights with additional ballast load weight to 1.32 tons (!) a package of 15 steel plates weighing 85-90 kg each, laid just behind the cockpit.
With this ballast the prototype An-178 was flown to the air show in Le Bourget, and now in Dubai, and after landing the ballast is discharged quickly to hide the fact of his presence on the plane. Needless to say that the constant presence of the ballast of 1.32 t degrade the performance of the aircraft, and without, apparently, hardly relevant advertising data, the proposed GP "Antonov".

Presumably the reason for the incorrect alignment was adopted at the design stage in 2012, the decision to increase the wingspan of the An-178 on 2 meters, as well as the area of the wing of 88.5 to 98.6 square meters, while maintaining unchanged the fuselage is already designed (this decision, in turn, was due to the calculated apparent failure of the landing characteristics compared to the claimed). Thus, apparently, the defect is "organic" and are difficult structurally. It is suggested that a means of defect correction of alignment may be to increase the length of the fuselage in the area of the wing and the bow, however, will require a serious redesign, the construction of a new experimental flight model, and in fact in this case, new tests of the redesigned aircraft.

As reported by Russian trolls - fxd

P.S. LiveJournal is a very crappy source.

Post-postscript: Ukraine takes the first steps in the information war. Russia has already created a legion of trolls and the Russian propaganda machine is running at full speed. 'Information war is now the main type of war',- says the Kremlin’s chief propagandist Dmitry Kiselyov. And Putin’s Russia is very good at it, having combined the dirtiest mechanisms for brainwashing.
