Build it. Glass boxes with a few angles will continue to be built to suit the corporate requirements. However, return architecture to the people now and again. The masses want their buildings to look visually interesting. Most people can't relate to minimalist soul deadening banal modernism like most buildings that are put up in NYC. They travel to Paris, Venice, Prague and London in droves every year from the USA for a reason. And it's not to see modernism. Many buildings we consider beautiful today like the Paris Opera, or the Old Executive Office building in DC, were considered "tacky" or "ostentatious" when they were first built by the elitist pundits.

I believe this render of NYC's future skyline shows this tower. You can see that in the context of all the supertalls coming up, this tower will fit right in.

Wow, close up the details are actually really nice!

This design marks the moment where 3D print technology makes it possible to drape our buildings in detailed ornamentation again. This may not be built, but we can prepare ourselves for a new style period in the history of the skyscraper!

Yeah, the design is kinda messy - well, not kinda - but based on the basic idea you could create some really, really neat designs.

Love or hate the design, its great to see explorations in skyscraper design besides just having the highest tower-dick.

Pure example of overdesiging. Too many jarring details that make it look incredibly tacky.

It looks preposterous in its current state, IMO. Scale down some of the wings and..things. Then maybe it would look a little less absurd. The so-called ornaments seem a bit uncoordinated. I don't like the monotony of boxes either, but I'm not going to just like something different -- just for the sake of being different.

Idk why everyone here thinks this is a genuine proposal. I think it was made pretty clear that this is just an extravagant vision for a site that can definitely yield a tower of similar proportions.

This is an example of neo-Gothic architecture, this ornamentation is so complex mainly for details quantinade, liked the project with the exception of those terrible wings!

It's an exaggerated show-off vision to visualise the possibilities of additive manufacturing, folks.

And it's a bold one.

This tower would be fantastic, but alas, IT IS ONLY A VISION! IT DOES NOT HAVE A SERIOUS INVESTOR!
