Quarry Park is extension of botanical garden, it just sit beside the current botanical garden entrance (the entrance of botanical garden going to shift further out under the park expansion project)

Forest Recreation Park is located beside Penang butterfly farm...(butterflt farm, Escape Theme Park and Forest Recreation Park all located in the same roll)

Youth Park is nearby of Botanical Garden, in future, the expansion of Botanical Garden going to link up with Youth Park

Well East Malaysia has all the allure with so many National Parks there because (fortunately) National parks are still under the jurisdiction of their respective state governments. Meaning our Federal Government isn't doing much to gazette more national parks. For Sabah, I hope Danum Valley and Maliau Basin (dubbed the lost world) would be gazetted sooner.

I hope the whole of Titiwangsa Range can be gazetted as a national park. It'll serve as a park connector too between Royal Belum in Perak, Selangor State Park (East Selangor) and Gua Tempurung all which are deserving of national park status.

Bukit Jalil Park, Bukit Jalil, KL. Not far away from Bukit Jalil Stadium. Built for the Commonwealth Games. Divided into 3 parts- International Pavilions, Jungle Trail and Playground. Resonably well-maintained although Jungle Trail has a bit of overgrowth and the lake is a little murky. Featuring international pavilions too, which is why there is a picture of a windmill. Other countries featured are China (Chinese garden), Japan (Japanese Garden), Malaysia (Kampung House), England (Roman Garden), Indonesia and Peru (Inca Pyramid).

Canopy and boathouse set to pull tourists

Posted on January 13, 2014

Iconic structure in progress: Ahmad Phesal (right) and Kuala Lumpur City Hall director-general Datuk Salleh Yusup looking at the plan of the almost-complete canopy at Taman Botani Perdana Kuala Lumpur.

THE canopy and boathouse in Taman Botani Perdana Kuala Lumpur is set to become the next national icon for the city,

Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Seri Ahmad Phesal Talib said the unique structure would become a great spot for tourists to snap a shot with the canopy in the background.

“The yellow roof is supposed to look like a tree that branches out, while the wave-like roof symbolises the flow of water in the lake.

“Many environmentalists were against the idea of building the canopy, citing that it was man-made, but we feel there is a need for such a facility so that activities can go on even during rainy weather.

“Eco-tourism is gaining popularity because people want to experience nature such as forests and greenery.

“Taman Botani Perdana is a great place for such activities as over 10,000 species of flora have been recorded and we are still collecting more data.

“Upgrading work in the park is ongoing, including the construction of a multi-level carpark and a tourist information centre,” he said at a tea session at the park.

During the session, Ahmad Phesal also revealed that three horse carriages from Istanbul worth RM120,000 had been bought.

They will be used for the horse carriage ride attraction, which is set to be launched next month.

“We only had two horse carriages before. The route is still being finalised.

“We are also in the midst of planning a helicopter city tour, which will take off from Taman Tasik Titiwangsa,” he added.

just came back from jogging at the Kepong Metropolitan Park. The lake and lamdscape are amazing and the park is nice but there are issues

1. Insufficient parking spaces with people parking along MRR2. One day someone will get hit. DBKL should take over the land next to the park currently used by secondnhand car dealers and build multi storey parking.
2.Rubbish issue mainly because of Malaysian littering habits, improper metal bins that break easily and too small. I notice the cleaners and sweepers are old ladies, I dont think they are capable of cleaning the entire park effectively and I notice the garbage in black bags around the park seem uncollected for quite some time.
3. Poor conditions of jogging paths due to small landlides and deterioration. Getting worse year by year.
4.Poor cicrculation in some parts of the lake cause the water to be stagnant and stink. They should just cover these parts with land or put water fountain in these stagnant parts to encourage water flow and aerate the water.

The Batu Metropolitan Park is also in the same situation.. Its pretty shameful for DBKL.
