Day & Night work in full swing... Sorry for the Blur image... took it while on drive

It was last Night...

Just Now by me... I think you Guys can see the concrete poring. Its 100% above ground. Visible from one side only. Ground level is covered by the sand pile around it. Looks like getting bigger in every 2days.

This plant have just been set up in last 1 week time.

With the current progress the core should be clearly visible from the distance in a few weeks .

I really hope for more updates then

as it being a tower, the first few hundred floors should sprout upwards quite quickly

You know things are getting pretty serious when they announce the extension of the Metro to Dubai Creek Harbour to start in 2018

Quote:
The extension will take the Green line from its existing terminus at the Creek station across the creek to the Dubai Creek Harbour development and then onto Academic City. Dubai is expected to tender the design and tender document preparation contract in the second quarter of 2018.The authorities is also understood to be considering procuring transit-oriented development (TOD) schemes on up to four of the planned 11 stations. TODs typically comprise commercial, residential and retail spaces within the proximity of transport hubs to increase public transport usage. Dubai is already working on a 15km-long extension to the Red line.

Well and truly above ground before the end of 2017! It is so great to see; out of all the Emaar towers, they chose to speed ahead with this one!

The next big question is how wide the tower will be ... is it going to be as thin as the core we see sprouting out of the ground or it will be wider!! My guess it will definitely be wider since it will have floors (although they might only be refuge or mechanical all over the stem).

Great times ahead

Well, the rest of the circular pit also has many piles under it, in the same pattern as the core.
So we may expect something will be constructed on it.

But then: why is there no rebar sticking out of the sides of the rectangular part?

Well from looking at the way they are building it i guess that the tower's body is exactly as wide as the formwork is, if you look close you see they have the circular shape formed with the formwork at the edges.

I am going to put my money on the width of the tower being about as wide as that box, considering you can already see its shape forming on the top of it.

Now, the shape seems a bit awkward, but I cant imagine why else that shape would be appearing, unless that is the core, but I estimate the tower's stem to be about 100' wide. Now, there were those few renders floating around of the tower with a fat stem... but other than those two renders (I think there were two) there is nothing indicating those are the design (especially with there having been more renders with a skinny stemmed tower coming out since then)

Frankly, I just feel Gabriel is being a bit optimistic and will be disappointed.

I am not optimistic but the tower will have some sort of floors going all over it so it will be wider then just the core and that is a FACT
