Surprisingly, I think we're looking here at some real valid urban planning, indeed! AAMOF, it's not that far from being perfect. Congrats, Dubai! It's a genuine surprise to find it here, after all the other areas in Dubai have been spoilt by exclusitely talentless urban "architects".

Surprisingly i'm agreeing with you, i think i will be a really nice area once finished.
Seems also much green space will be integrated.

I often hear my city (Oldenburg, Germany) praised by other Germans for how well it is planned (probably the only "planned" city in Germany, we were a small town that experienced massive growth after the war from war refugees from all over Germany because we were one of the few cities not bombed) with the highway ring around the main streets "radiating" from the center, and the scheme above seems to follow the same principle.

Wow, that masterplan looks great! What I like most is the green belt around the city centre and all the other park areas! Dubai learned from its past mistakes

I am personally not a huge fan of "circular" planned cities, I like the grid system, that can be seen in Manhattan, Atlanta, Los Angeles and Chicago.

There is one city in Europe (I can't really recall which one), where all the motorways are under the surface. Hence, all the walkways are free from cars! Fancy that, the streets are free from:

1. Dirt
2. Noise
3. Danger
4. Distraction
5. Air pollutions
6. Drivers' emotions

So it's like a pre-industrial era, but without horses and gigs.

Saudi's new financial district in Riyadh has its streets underground and all its buildings are connected with sky bridges and a monorail..

BinSroor this is awesome ... and you are awesome

Imagine the skyline of Dubai 10 years from now ... I feel like we are back in 2000 and Dubai is on the verge of booming with craziness again

Technically, this building should not be called a tower. Because the term "tower" means it is a free-standing structure. And this is precisely a guyed mast.

Going by the renders I assume the wires only provide part of the stability, not all as they do with guyed masts proper. Partially guyed "mast"/"tower" (your choice) would be my guess.

Dubai is creating one new tower that doesn't fit in a known classification. I doubt that another similar to this one will build in the near future. Smaller towers don't need additional cables to stabilize the structure, i think that's the reason no one build it before. That's why Iconic Tower will be really unique and quiete lonely in his own category.

WORK STARTED !

If you compare the image below with the actual Google Earth imagery you can see that they are filling the old canals with sand to prepare the land !
