It will be in the same category as the KVLY-TV mast.
It has 18 usable floors but, KVLY-TV hasn't got one

It will be it the same category as CN Tower for example

DUBAI | The Tower | 928m+ | 3045ft+ | ??? fl | Prep

This tower has got no specific category! And it have MORE than 20F (including a hotel) It's not a mast it's not a freestanding structure it's more of a hybrid, a very unique mix of both. Plus it doesn't matter with such a crazy new height and design people will know it and talk about it as the tallest worldwide no matter how many floors it contains.

This is an pure icon that will trump all others when it's done.

Calatrava’s Dubai Observation Tower Passes Wind Tunnel Testing

The Tower at Dubai Creek Harbour, Santiago Calatrava's competition-winning "landmark" residential and observation tower in Dubai, has passed through wind tunnel tests, confirming the structural strength of the project. When complete, the project constitute the heart of a 6 square kilometer master-planned community set by the historic Dubai Creek and only 10 minutes from the Dubai International Airport.

The analysis put a scale model of the building through 12 different tests, some of which were developed specifically for the structure, which will be anchored to the ground with a system of cables. The results of the tests will be used to determine the final height of the project, as well as to optimize the building form for aerodynamics. In addition to the wind tests, the project underwent a comprehensive set of seismic and climate studies, pushing the tower one step closer to realization.

Said Santiago Calatrava, “From the materials selection to the technology used, every aspect of The Tower has been designed and developed according to the strictest international safety standards. The wind tunnel tests were an important component in the structural design stage, and we have deployed innovative engineering techniques to confirm the strength of the new icon.”

The tower is planned for a site in Dubai Creek Harbor near the Ras Al Khor National Wildlife Sanctuary, and was inspired by the "natural forms of the lily and evokes the shape of a minaret, a distinctive architectural feature in Islamic culture."

I can't see this structures cables all having smaller individual/seperate cable foundations.

What's your estimate Gabriel, how far on the ground is one side of the cables to the other?

The foundation will most likely also have complex underground floors/access to the tower.
It is much more likely that the actual tower will have a small raft foundation with deep piles underneath and each cable will be anchored in the ground separately. A common slab would not only be too large and a waste of resources, but is simply not needed.

Not sure if separately, probably each arc will be interconnected within itself - considering how close the cables are to each other.

I thought about that, but if each cable was anchored separately would it have the strength to withstand the sway in case of an earthquake, or high winds? Keep in mind how high this structure will be, it could just rip out the individual cables.

I noticed the developer has a problem to name this tower. It is quite silly to name it The Tower.

Let it be Cithara Tower! Are you ok with that, Mr. Alabbar?

It's just a name that will be kept during construction. There will be a new one when it's finished.

That will most likely be the name unless Dubai gets themselves in a financial mess again, and this one turns out to be Khalifa Tower.

Burj Dubai means Dubai Tower in Arabic. So that name is already taken (well, technically that tower is renamed Burj Khalifa, but it's still commonly named Burj Dubai).

This design really inspired me as a want to be architect, so I sat down on autocad and made some alternative proposals.
