As far as completing the tower by Expo who says it has to be totally finished? I'm sure they will be happy with just the exterior being complete, and the interior can wait.

With this shape and that kind of formwork they are able to cast 2 floors at the same time - 2 floors walls and columns, first floorplate, second floorplate - than again 2 floors walls and columns etc.

We will see one floor per 2 1/2 days - that's my opinion and also my hope - and i'm working as a construction foreman since 2007.
There are no floors until it gets wider.

Comparing it to the pic I took a couple pages back of the site I would say this pic might be a bit dated. Anyways notice how huge the footprint of the central tower!! Look at these tiny ant-men! damn

That, my friend, is going to be a subject of debate on this forum for years to come.

What we see on the photo is certainly not the diameter of the tower but that of the foundations.

The soil cannot deal with the mass of the tower on the small diameter we can see on the renders. The pressure constraints have to be diffused on a larger surface to reduce them. What you see here is most likely the diameter of the concrete slab that will be used to reduce this pressure.

But the tower itself, which is basically a huge mast, will certainly have a smaller diameter, probably half of what we can see here since the pressure constraints diffuse with a 45° angle in all directions when you have a slab.

Here is an attempt to illustrate what I'm talking about:

What you calling mast? you mean core? this is beyond a "mast" at this point!

That is an interesting theory to consider, but then again this could be the case but still what the circle showcase is actually the diameter of the Tower! Personally I think for such a height the core of it might be unique just for it (as it happened with BK), and diffusion might even be spread on a larger scale underground.

Things are a little uncertain for now. Let's wait for a more recent construction update, where it might be easier to distinguish the diameter of the actual tower

I believe there would be an observation deck up there.

How thrill is it to look down below should they put a glass floor !

This is not technically accurate as the base slab is not an unreinforced soil.

In fact any foundation slab is heavily reinforced to transfer the load from the structure to the piles / barettes. It does not need to be a certain thickness to achieve a 45 degree or other angle.
